By participating in this event you will find the answer to some of the following questions: • How have hairstyles evolved through the ages and is there truly anything new? • How can you find hair inspiration through art, nature, movies and pop culture?
PALOMINO B • How can you arouse your curiosity? • Do you know the opportunities awaiting you in the hair industry? John has said he prefers to look at his lecture as an adventure, one in which we not only have fun, but also all learn something. If you are curious, come and discover the opportunities available to you. And in closing let’s remember this - “Minds are like parachutes. They work best when they’re open”
Other students have said: “Listening to you talk was very inspiring! You love what you do and transferred that to all of us” – Manda “I absolutely love your outlook on art and how you have colourfully linked it to the art of hair” – from the girl with the colourful hair. “Thank you for telling us where you came from and telling us we could do it if we wanted it – your insight is amazing.” – Melissa

ANTHONY CROSSFIELD For over 20 years, Anthony has been a highly admired and sought after stylist in Vancouver, BC. Since graduating from Hair School in 1985, he has been going 100 miles an hour, cutting, competing, teaching and running his own successful salon, Mine. Anthony maintains active involvement with the salon consumer as well as continually competing and updating his skills for the technical mastery. His fierce competitive side has allowed Anthony to compete in the Hair World Olympics as a member of Team Canada, 1986 in Italy and again in Holland1994. His cutting style is intense; free form and sculptural, based in part on traditional techniques learned, creating a style that is uniquely his. Although he stresses that the consultation is the key for a great haircut, Anthony is a finishing fanatic and believes the final details are what make the difference between the average and the spectacular. This philosophy along with his consumer experience helped Anthony win Canada’s Superstar Hair Challenge on Slice TV. The Challenge aired for 8 weeks where Anthony battled against other competitors, stress, no contact with the outside world and then finally the added responsibility to not share the news of his win until the series aired was the most stressful and rewarding time in his professional career.

JENNIFER SPARVERI Jennifer’s success philosophy is based on working hard at being successful, only dreaming of it won’t get you there. She applies this philosophy throughout a client’s entire service, explaining the products she’s using and why. By the time the client is finished, they are eager to buy the products to take home. She works off the idea that a client buys a product three times: when it’s purchased, when it’s opened at home and when it’s used.
THOMAS COUSINS Since entering the beauty business, Thomas has realized that education is the driving force behind any stylist’s or salon’s success. Before joining Paul Mitchell he was convinced that he could build his business on technical skills alone.
