SEDIMENT TRAP Portable Sediment Trap for Kerb Inlets

Sediment traps are used to prevent solids entering water ways via street kerb side entry pits (drains). Geotextile fabric is filled with gravel (small stone) which will allow water to pass through but not solid particles. • • • •

Suitable for short term and overnight use Easily moved by one person Easily cleaned Reusable

2 metre sediment trap

Place against the side entry pit with sides and ends securely sealed. The ends should extend beyond the width of the side entry pit. A small gap should be allowed between the top of the trap and the roof of the side entry pit for overflows. Flow rate and discharges should be controlled to prevent ponding around the trap. Greater use of the trap’s surface area occurs if controlled flows run perpendicular to the trap. However if the terrain or streetscape is sloping, excess water will flow past the trap. The sediment trap should therefore be set up at the next (one or two) side entry pits. Standard sizes available: 2 metre length (PST2.0) approx weight 33 kgs 1.2 metre length (PST1.2) approx weight 20 kgs
