Business Analyst in the World of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning Statement of Problem Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a principal term which is being used to explain the technology which programs computers to act and demonstrate humanly intelligence viz., learning and problem solving. The AI scope is wide and confusing at times since, AI is very broad and non-specific and is hard to define clearly. Machine Learning is much more than just computer programming to enable the machine to exhibit ‘smart’ behavior. Machine Learning enhances the computer programming to ‘learn from environment’ extent and improves their performance over time. As Andrew Ng (Baidu chief scientist, Coursera co-founder, and Stanford Professor) addressed during a speech said that Business Analysts would need to evolve themselves to support Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning based Projects.
Objectives The objective of this research study is to find out:
If Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning would replace the Business Analysts
completely? The role of future Business Analysts in Hybrid situation with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
Methodology To achieve the results, the researcher used the ‘Research Onion Model’ which was proposed by Saunders, Lewis and Thornhill (2009, p. 108). The research onion model has six layers to it, with each layer acting as a stage of the methodology; starting from the research philosophy, to the
research approach to research strategy to research choice to time horizons to the final layer of techniques and procedures. The researcher would be using the inductive and deductive research approach to examine the objectives of the study stated above. This dual approach would enhance the understanding in the concept from the person specific to the generic corporate world. Philosophy: Interpretivism Approach: Inductive and Deductive Strategies: Survey and Ethnography Interviews: 5 – 6 (One – to – one) interviews with the business analysts Surveys: 200 respondents IT and the Project Management departments Choices: Mixed Method Time Horizon: Cross - Sectional
