REFLECTIONS ON LIFE “Researchers Find Safer Methods to Reprogram Adult Stem Cells.” This recent heading describing adult stem cell research that does not involve killing embryos joins those announcing breakthroughs with adult stem cells from bone marrow, skin, and placentas. Meanwhile the world of embryonic stem cell research keeps demanding more money while producing negligible results.

CEMETERY MOWING ST. MARY’S CEMETERY At Highland Park (St. Mary’s Cemetery is at the corner of Broadway and Centennial) Once again the season is upon us. Every other Wednesday starting at 5:00pm we trim the stones with weed eaters. (If you would like to come earlier than 5:00pm that is perfectly OK.) We invite anyone and everyone to help with the trimming — bring your weed eater if you have one — the parish has a number of weed eaters available for your use if you don’t have one. We are grateful to Ken Robertson for coordinating this parish ministry with the help of the Knights of Columbus. Any questions contact Ken Robertson at 232-2771.

STEWARDSHIP REFLECTIONS The disciples in today’s Gospel came to know Jesus in the breaking of the bread. When we share what we have with those who are in need, we, too, will discover Jesus in our midst. VOCATION PRAYER: Jesus we ask you to bless our parish and all those living their commitment to you as married couples, singles, sisters, priests, deacons and brothers. We pray that our young people may know their vocation and respond with enthusiasm and generosity of spirit. Increase the faith life of our parish and strengthen our family life. Bless our parish with many vocations. Grant, Lord, that faithfully sharing your mission in this life, we may come together to share your eternal life in heaven. Amen.
