Almighty and everlasting God, you govern all things both in heaven and on earth: Mercifully hear the supplications of your people, and in our time grant us your peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

LITURGY OF THE WORD Please be seated.

The First Lesson: Revelation 2:18-29 Lector People

The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

Psalm 33 To be read as prompted by the lector. 1

Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous.* Praise befits the upright. 2 Praise the Lord with the lyre;* make melody to him with the harp of ten strings. 3 Sing to him a new song;* play skilfully on the strings, with loud shouts. 4 For the word of the Lord is upright,* and all his work is done in faithfulness. 5 He loves righteousness and justice;* the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord. 13

The Lord looks down from heaven;* he sees all humankind. 14 From where he sits enthroned he watches* all the inhabitants of the earth— 15 he who fashions the hearts of them all,* and observes all their deeds. 16 A king is not saved by his great army;* a warrior is not delivered by his great strength. 17 The war horse is a vain hope for victory,* and by its great might it cannot save. 18 Truly the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him,* on those who hope in his steadfast love, 19 to deliver their soul from death,* and to keep them alive in famine. 20 Our soul waits for the Lord;* he is our help and shield. 21 Our heart is glad in him,* because we trust in his holy name. 22 Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us,* even as we hope in you.

The Gospel of the Lord Praise to you, Lord Christ

The Nicene Creed Please stand.

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

The Communion Hymns Please be seated and sing

There is a Fountain There is a fountain filled with blood Drawn from Immanuel's veins, And sinners plunged beneath that flood Lose all their guilty stains; Lose all their guilty stains, Lose all their guilty stains; And sinners plunged beneath that flood Lose all their guilty stains. The dying thief rejoiced to see That fountain in his day; And there may I, though vile as he Wash all my sins away. Wash all my sins away, Wash all my sins away. And there may I, though vile as he, Wash all my sins away. E'er since by faith I saw the stream, Thy flowing wounds supply; Redeeming love has been my theme, And shall be till I die. And shall be till I die, And shall be till I die. Redeeming love has been my theme, And shall be till I die. Dear dying Lamb, Thy precious blood Shall never lose its power, Till all the ransomed church of God Be saved, to sin no more. Be saved, to sin no more, Be saved, to sin no more. Till all the ransomed church of God Be saved, to sin no more.
