Airline Pilot Training Austral Academy (AASB), a government approved airline pilot training centre, is dedicated to provide quality, up-to-date and world-class training to aspiring aircraft pilots at all levels. Regarded nationally and globally, AASB also provides specially modifies programs to meet the specific requirements of an airline, authority or simply to suit your needs, i.e Cockpit Resource Management, Multi-Crew Cooperation Training and many others. Based in Sandakan, Sabah, Malaysian North Borneo, IFAS has strong ties with the industry and its nationally accredited curriculum complies fully with all requirements of the MDCA-Malaysian Department of Civil Aviation and ICAO-International Civil Aviation Organization. We also follow the Civil Aviation Authority of United Kingdom (CAA.UK) syllabus as closely as possible adhering to current legislation. All examinations including flying, simulator and ground training will take place at our academy. AASB is the first flying school in Malaysia that offers aspiring pilots the option to graduate with either the CPL/IR with Frozen ATPL with piston endorsement or a combination of piston and jet endorsements which is in high demand among all major airlines.

Pre-Entry Requirements •

• Minimum age of 17 years Pass the Aviation Medical Examination (Class 1) Successful completion of Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with a minimum of 5 credits including English, Mathematics and any recognized Science subjects;
Intakes February, March, May, June, August, September, November, and December. The course will be conducted in 65 weeks
Flight Training A pilot student will undergo flight training using a glass-cockpit, simulating their first flight in a single-engine aircraft right up to a multiengine aircraft totaling to 200 hours of flight time. The breakdown is as follows: • •
• 145 hours – Single engine 20 hours – Simulator FNTP II satisfied as JAR STD-3A 35 hours – Multi-engine Piston or Jet or combination of both

Qualifications AASB licences and certificates are recognized in Malaysia and in any other contracting state under ICAO International Civil Authority Organisation, allowing graduates to apply for pilot positions with any airline worldwide

Sandakan, located in the East Coast of North Boreno, is blessed with sunny weather all year round, lushy greenery, abundant seafood and is known as the ‘Gateway to Borneo’s Wildlife’ for its rich diversity in fauna. The training center is located within the parameter of Sandakan Airport and the main building located 12 km (15 minutes drive) from the airport.
