Kanab Ambersnail

• The Kanab Ambersnail lives on the plants that it feeds off of, particularly Scarlet Monkeyflower and Watercress. It also feeds off of algae,fungi,and bacteria.
• The Kanab Ambersnail is dormant yearly from October to April. It lives for 12 to 15 months.
• Some of it’s close relatives are the Marshall Ambersnail, the Ruddy Ambersnail, and the Boundary Ambersnail.
• The Kanab has adapted to be able to survive underwater for 32 hours even though it is a air breathing snail.
• It searches
weekly for food.
• The snail is a first level consumer because it eats plants.
The kingdom of the Kanab Ambersnail is Anamalia, it’s phylum is Mollusca, it’s class is Gastropoda, it’s order is Pulmonata, it’s family is Succineidae, it’s genus is Oxyloma, and it’s species is haydeni. It has a distinguished orange shell that wards off predators. It lives in only one place:The Colorado River Valley.
• Kanabs are hermaphrodites that have the possibility of asexual reproduction but are normally sexual. • They are preyed upon by deer mice • The reason the Kanab is endangered is because it’s habitat was destroyed
