Half-Day Seminar
Responsible Sourcing in a Cost-Driven Market Corporate Social Responsibility within Procurement Operations in China Shanghai, May 8th, 2009, 9:00 a.m - 2:30 p.m., JW Marriott Hotel
Programme Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has been moving towards the center of management strategy. The need to integrate social and environmental aspects into a company's core strategies is increasingly understood by international corporations and often demanded by its stakeholders. And procurement - as the bridge to suppliers naturally has become one of the main areas with potential risks when looking into CSR. Local implementation can be cumbersome. This is especially true for China, and even more so for the sourcing sector. The chinese market is very cost-centric, lacks transparency and for many local companies, CSR and Responsible Sourcing is still a relativly new concept. Yet, a well implemented CSR strategy can act as a tool to gain better quality products at best prices. Creating guidelines, training staffs and building awareness on the supplier side are only the first steps, with many to follow. How do you monitor a supply chain that often includes second, third and fourth tier suppliers? What if a supplier tries to substitute his own CSR investment with higher prices or compromises in quality? The seminar delivers operational value through lessons from field experience, Best-Practice examples and open discussion with CSR experts. The Content includes: • • • • • • • • •
