Universal Design for Learning (UDL): Engagement: Students are able to watch this video in a different language, read closed captions, or just listen to the content without having to watch the video. Representation: Optimizes access to tools and assistive tech… can use an iPad, desktop, headphones, and other things to help the student’s ability to understand content and watch the video Action and Expression: Students are able to play games, take quizzes, watch other videos related to this topic and more to learn the content. Lesson idea implementation: This lesson will be introduced at the beginning of social studies class while the students have their snack. They will be expected to sit and pay attention, but their bodies will still be moving so that the students will be able to better focus without getting fidgety. In order to assess my students learning I will ask them to take quizzes individually on their laptops and screenshot the school and email it to me for full credit and proof. If the student is at a higher level there is a harder and easier quiz and even a “challenge” option next to the video. I will conclude the lesson with the quizzes and introducing a potential project for students to work on next over the branches of government. We will review each branch and I will ask the students questions to assess how much more we need to review each branch before we move on to the project. The students will be able to raise their hands but also should be prepared to be called on in class to answer questions. Reflective Practice: The students will be able to see a visual of how all of the branches are connected and check one another. They will be able to have this tool hung up on the wall while we continue learning about this standard. We will extend this lesson by making the students to create their only mind map using mine as a guide and show more connections between the branches.

Beyond-the-Basic Productivity Tools (BBPT)
1. Definition of BBPTs including the types of BBPTs and an explanation of Web-based BBPTs. Examples of BBPTs (stand-alone computer applications and Web-based). Brief explanation of how BBPTs can support student acquisition of required learning standards in content areas, the ISTE-S, Bloom’s levels of critical thinking, and LoTi 4 and above.
2. Discussion of promising trends in BBPTs (Web-based BBPTs, apps, mobile computing, etc.).
3. A positive discussion of issues related to instructional software (examples: available in schools, but often underutilized. Use of Web-based tools by under-age minors often violate terms of use. For example, seehttps://voicethread.com/termsofuse/ and http://voiceth read.com/products/k12/ Privacy and safety issues are also a concern when children use Web-based productivity tools. More about this later in course, too.)
