Learn the note names and the number names of the open strings Learn the basic 16 open chords (E, A, D, G, C, Em, Am, Dm, Cm, Gm, E7, A7, G7, D7, B7, C7) and basic strumming techniques Learn accompaniment styles for folk and sing-a-long songs Learn the names of the notes on the E and A stings from open position to the 12th fret Learn 2 note - power chord formations in open and moveable position Learn the 12 bar blues progressions in open position keys Learn the open position pentatonic and blues scales (Major and Minor forms) Learn the moveable position pentatonic and blues scales Learn basic soloing forms and techniques Call and Response technique Learn various blues riffs and patterns Learn basic 4 note “baby barre” chords F and Bb based forms (Positions 1 – 4) Combined above with open chords to play in all 12 keys Study the major scale number system and chord progressions Study and learn rock, blues, country, pop, and R&B songs for the 50’s to current Learn “Full Barre” chords in movable positions Learn to figure out songs from recording by ear

1 unexcused absence allowed for the semester 2 unexcused absences = 1 grade letter drop, 3 unexcused absences = 2 grade letter drop, etc… I must be notified at least 24 hours before class for misses due to sickness and receive a doctor’s note the following class – without both = 1 grade letter drop
