The importance of the prayer in Islam cannot be simplified. It is a main pillar of Islam And obligatory upon each Muslim.
BASICS of SALAAH
Pre-requisites of Salaah
There are 7 pre-requisites of Salaah :1) the body being clean. 2) the clothes being clean. 3) the place being clean. 4) the Satr (parts of the body ordained to be covered) being covered. 5) it being permissible time for Salaah. 6) the face being turned towards the Qiblah. 7) there being Niyah (intention) to pray.
1) WUDU (ABLUTION)
There are 4 fard in wudu :1) washing the face over from one’s hair tips on the forehead down to the chin and from one ear to the other. 2) washing the two hands and wrists including the elbows. 3) performing the Masah(wiping with wet hands to the extent of 1/4th of one’s head. 4) washing the feet including the ankles.
Fard acts of Salaah
There are 6 fard acts of Salaah :1) saying Takbeer Tahrima (first Takbeer). 2) Qiyam (standing position). 3) Qiraat (reciting verses from Holy Qur’an). 4) Ruku (the bowing position). 5) Two Sajdaahs (the prostrating positions). 6) Qa’eda (the sitting position,sitting long enough to recite Tashah-hud). Takbeer Tahrima is a pre-condition and not constituent of Salaah.
Acts which nullify the Wudu
There are 8 acts which nullify the wudu:1) passing of urine. 2) passing of wind. 3) passing of stool,blood or puss from the body. 4) mouthful of vomit. 5) sleeping in lying posture or against some support. 6) fainting. 7) stroke of madness due to some illness. 8) bursting into laughter while offering Salaah.
