Mark Baldwin Returns for Deputation and Recharging News to Know: •

Winter Youth Conferences are held between Christmas and New Year’s annually, sponsored by churches in the Florida, Great Lakes, and Northwest Presbyteries. At a pro re nata meeting December 8, the Great Lakes Presbytery approved the Covenant BPC in Springville, NY, as a mission of the presbytery. The Rev. Mr. Keith Fagerheim is the stated pulpit supply for the mission. Our web site remains down for the time being, as we await the arrival of our “IT department” (Mark Baldwin!) from Cambodia. Thanks for your patience. We hope to have it back up soon. A Christian community choir in La Paz, Bolivia, (Dr. Pine worked with them as part of the Team timothy ministry in July of 2004) is in need of twenty-five choir robes for their ministry. If you or your church has any you would like to donate, please contact our office. Thank you!
After nearly ten months in Phnom Penh, Mark Baldwin has the opportunity to temporarily return to the US for some needed deputation work and physical “recharging.” The school where Mark has been teaching will be closing soon, an unexpected development to be sure. Though we had hoped that Mark would be able to stay longer before returning home, the Lord has ordered matters so that he will be able to return in mid-December. While here in the States, Mark will work to bring regular, monthly support up to 100%, do some language acquisition training, prepare for ordination exams, and take care of some health needs that could not be adequately addressed in Cambodia.
He looks forward to traveling to the churches, presenting the opportunities that await him when he returns to Cambodia in late summer, and renewing the friendships gained during his last deputation travels. Please keep him in prayer!

The complete roster is: Dr. Len Pine, Dr. George Gatis, Mrs. Rita Gatis, Miss Susan Blizzard, Mr. Eric Pastorek, Miss Emily Blizzard, Miss Elicia Springhart, and Mr. Jason Huttinga. On the Horizon: Opportunities for 2006
About PMU: Presbyterian Missionary Union is a non-profit missions agency associated with the Bible Presbyterian Church. We desire to advance the cause of missions that are biblically based and practiced and to stand against any compromise of the saving gospel of Jesus Christ. PMU is directed by a Missions Council of Christian leaders who voluntarily give their time to guide the ministry. Please contact us should you desire to learn more about missions opportunities through PMU, arrange for a presentation, or become better acquainted with the BPC. The Missions Banner is published ten times a year, and is distributed without cost to our churches and to interested individuals. The Banner seeks to promote the clear stand of the BPC by providing a biblical perspective on issues in missions and church development. Our Editor is Len Pine, and our Publishing Coordinator is Tito Lyro.
Church Planting and Shepherding in the United States remains a critical part of PMU’s ministry. Without healthy churches at home, foreign missions fail for want of an adequate foundation! Here are projects PMU will be involved in this year (so far!): • Springville, NY. The Covenant BPC is now a mission of the Great Lakes Presbytery, and Dr. Pine serves on the interim Session. The Rev. Mr. Keith Fagerheim serves as pulpit supply. • Elma, WA. A mission of the Olympia BPC in Olympia, WA. Pray for the Lord to raise up a new man for the pulpit supply. • Zephyr Hills, FL. Still in praying and planning stages as of this printing. • Chicago, IL. Still in praying and planning stages as of this printing. A few people have been gathered thus far. Church planter: Gordon Chevalier. • Evansville, IN. Still in praying and planning stages as of this printing. A few people have been gathered. Church planter: Bob Craig. • Filling empty pulpits. PMU continues to recruit and connect prospective pastors with churches. The harvest is plenteous, but the laborers are few! Foreign Missions activity and prospects are also high for 2006! Here are some of the items to pray for: • Cambodia. (See article on the front page. Pray that the foundational preparations Mark Baldwin makes in the coming months further fits him for long, effective service in Cambodia. • Ch-na. For Miriam, 2005 was a year of changes! Pray that 2006 will reveal places for lasting service and impact in her field. • Australia. Ed and Lehia Paauwe are traveling a lot this next year, and working hard to build up the work of Evangel Bible Institute. • Myanmar. Khawl and Mawite
Kim are busy learning the ropes of parenthood, and laboring to establish two churches, two kindergartens, and an orphanage. • Bolivia. We have the prospect of taking on the joyful privilege of assisting our brethren in La Paz establish enough churches to form a presbytery there. • Uganda. Contacts with an aim of church planting in the capital, Kampala. Still developing. • Czech Republic. Contacts with an aim of assisting in church planting in the capital, Prague. Still developing. Short-term ministries remain an important aspect of PMU’s overall ministry. Here are the plans as they stand so far: • Team Timothy Bolivia. July, 2006, eight team members. • Team Timothy USA. Date and place to be announced. Ministry of helps to one our local BP churches. • Pine to Australia and SE Asia. A September trip is planned, with stops in Australia, Singapore, Myanmar, and Cambodia. • John Dyck to Uganda. This is a possible trip on the part of one of our Missions Council members, depending on how contacts in Uganda develop. Home Office needs and opportunities also require your prayers: • Administrative Assistant. The office work load is increasing to the point that an assistant for Dr. Pine is needed. Pray for the Lord to raise up the right person. • Pine domestic travel. Dr. Pine will visit many BP churches, represent PMU at missions conferences, and present concerts throughout the year. • Support for general and church planting funds, Pines’ account. These “local” funds need additional regular supporters. Thank you for keeping these matters in prayer in the coming months.
