Carelle ‘s story... ...hope after Satanism

It’s been almost a year since the youth pastor of the Miederpark Dutch Reform Church asked me to be their youth leader. Since my time there, I have discovered that the high divorce rate and alcohol abuse amongst the parents had some serious repercussions amongst the teenagers. The most severe being sex, gangs, Satanism and a high ratio of selfmutilation. But in Jesus Christ, there arose stories of...HOPE. Carelle came to our cellgroup by order of her single mother after her arrest for shoplifting. It soon became apparent that the verbal and physical abuse inflicted on her and her mother by her father had created scars

Fortunately, Carelle and I went to go and see a Cult Counselor, Hendrik Venter, for deliverance. At these sessions, Carelle decided to invite Jesus Christ into her

life. Since then Carelle’s life has changed..a lot! Although she still struggles

A picture of Carelle and myself at church. with some of her old habits, I am happy to report that the self-mutilation and Satanic activities are a thing of the past. Her efforts being focused on bringing her peers back into His Light.

J.A.S.O.N. Project J.A.S.O.N., an acronym for Jesus and the Sons of Now, Project is a worship movement whose main mission is to bring a joy to worship music in a world where tradition has taken president over an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ.

After I got to know Carelle better, it came out that her severe verbal and physical aggression had led her to a peer group with sinister nocturnal activity. At age 15 she had already taken part in various Satanic rituals many of which were illegal. These rituals involved highly sexual and physical tasks which led Carelle into acts of selfmutilation. A desperate external release for the ever growing internal pain.

The project’s recent heartbeat has taken a new

rhythm: To unite the youth of different churches in Potchefstroom by creating opportunities for interdenominational worship. At the moment the movement is in its infancy, and although its lifetime may be short, the relationships that are created daily will have long term effects within
