First Grade Gazette Ms. Skelton’s Class August 24-28, 2008
A Peek at the Week Reading: This week we will review the letters Aa, Bb, Cc, Dd, Ee, Ff, Gg, Hh, Ii, Jj. We will listen for vowel sounds and consonant sounds. We will explore poetry from our unit titled Let’s Read! Language Arts/Writing: We will work on handwriting (letters AaMm), capital letters on proper names. Math:
We will begin our week by introducing numbers zero through five and shapes. Social Studies: Students will understand why we go to school, how each family is different, and the various activities certain families do.

Monday: PE Tuesday: Music Wednesday: Computer Thursday: Art Friday: Spanish
Homework This week we will begin doing homework using the homework matrix. Please make sure homework is complete by Friday. Make sure to initial each activity your child has done. Please let me know if you have any questions. **Try to read with your students every night for 20 minutes.
