From the Shepherd’s Shop‹ Shop‹ by Pastor Keith Felton

I spent a few days this past week at the Baptist General Convention of Texas which was in Houston this year. I had the opportunity to share the experience with my wife and FBC Deacon, Grant Lengefeld. We enjoyed hearing about HOPE 2010 which is the strategy put forth by the Executive Director of the BGCT, Randall Everett. His hope is that by the end of 2010 every Texas Baptist church will have done all they can to share the Gospel to every person in Texas. What a bold initiative and I’m thankful to be a part of a church that takes evangelism seriously. What can we do as individuals and collectively as a church to help with this initiative to reach the lost of our community with the message of Jesus Christ? HOPE 2010 emphasizes three elements for accomplishing this task: PRAYER, CARE, and SHARE. We need to renew our commitment to praying for the lost. Each and every day we need to bow our heads and tune our hearts to God and ask for His Spirit to help us engage others in talking about matters of eternity. We also need to renew our commitments to caring for those in need. In caring for the needs of people we get a chance to say because God cared for me, I care for you. Lastly, we need to renew our commitment to sharing the story of Jesus with others. How has God changed our lives through the sending of His Son? How has God transformed who I am in becoming more like Jesus? How can God change the life of the lost person we have engaged in conversation? Praying, Caring, and Sharing are three ways in which we can change our world for Jesus Christ. I believe if we renew our commitment to doing these three things intentionally with the lost around us, our church will be overflowing with folks wanting to know more about the Savior. As a Texas Baptist, what will be your part in reaching our state with the Gospel?

Our Sympathy and Prayers... Our love and support, sympathy and prayers go out to the family of Donna McGee, whose mother, Lottie Babbitt, went to be with Christ this past week. We join together as a family of faith and pray for this family as we celebrate Christ’s gift of eternal life. Thank You.. Dearest Members of FBC: I want to thank you for the beautiful flowers. I didn’t have room for them in my room so put them in the big living room. Now everyone can enjoy them. Hope we can make them last a long time. Thank you for remembering me -- I felt it a great blessing. Thank you All, Marguerite Crowley
