Country: Libya Period: January-February 2005 (2 months with the opportunity of extension) To contribute to Local Human Development processes in the pilot regions promoting links and cooperation initiatives with decentralized cooperation partners both north-south and south-south. The project: - To support national and local authorities, civil society and private sector in their effort to promote a local integrated participatory development and decentralization process. - To support local development processes, through a better use of international, decentralized and southsouth cooperation resources. The candidate: - To know GOLD philosophy and operative instruments by reading the available documents and through specific training that will be held by the GOLD-Libya responsible international staff. - To participate in meetings with the national and local authorities and international partners, with the specific task of writing reports and provide translation, if needed. - To visit the GOLD pilot regions and support International and Local staff in building and training of local working groups. - To help with the translation of documents produced by the pilot regions working groups and/or by local communities (Arabic-English, Arabic-Italian, and vice versa) in European countries. - To support GOLD International and Local staff in maintaining relations and contacts with local, national and international partners. - To accomplish any other task given by direct supervisor. Good knowledge of the UN environment and of the country Good attitude to work in a team and to meet dead-lines Working knowledge of Arabic and English Computer literacy Good skills in public and personal relations Availability to travel in and out of the country

Graduate or post graduate in economic or social subjects
