PIE 2413 GRAMMAR FOR WRITING Task 1 (Pair work) (20%) Assignment 1 comprises TWO (2) parts: 

Part 1 requires you to complete a written task on a given topic



Part 2 requires you to do an oral presentation about the completed written task.

Part 1 (Take home writing task) (10 marks) i) Write a paragraph on the following topic in 150 words. Describe how you feel about learning English at UPM and at your previous learning institution. In your paragraph, you must state and explain TWO major similarities or differences that you have experienced learning the language at the different institutions. ii) Submit your completed paragraph on the day of your presentation.

Part 2 (Oral Presentation: 5-7 minutes) (10 marks) i) Describe the tense(s) used in your paragraph. Briefly explain the functions of the tenses that you have used. ii) Submit your power point slides together with your paragraph writing.
