PICK AND PLACE APPLICATION – MACHINE TOOLS Products used – GV3
Placing products into a machine tool from outside can be achieved in a number of ways. However, when the system has to work inside the machine and is directly subject to the hostile conditions from swarf ingress then the number of options available are limited. A GV3 flat slide system with double row bearings constructed into a telescopic motion has proved to be the ideal answer. The single axis movement operates within the confines of the machine and is fitted to the machine bed. The GV3 flat slides, chosen for their compactness, are pneumatically driven and are arranged one on top of each other to produce a telescopic movement. The travel of each slide is around 400mm and the gripper will remove the finished part from the chuck and place it in a box. Loads and speeds are relatively slow, the main criteria is that space for the motion is limited and the presence of swarf would cause lesser linear systems to fail.
The GV3 M76 slides and double row dirt resistant bearings are fitted with cap seals to provide lubrication and further system protection offers a low cost solution to a difficult application.
