Student Schedules • 1AP course and College Now or 2AP Courses • Special permission from the AP Committee is needed for students to add additional AP courses
Curriculum and Instruction • AP courses are to be taught as a 1st Year college level class. • Curriculum is designed by the teacher using the course guidelines outlined in the Collegeboard.com course information section • Students and teachers held accountable for high expectations for college level work AP Examinations • All students enrolled in an AP course will take the AP Exam in May • AP of Instruction will complete waivers and other documentation so that the students will not have to pay the exam fee. Decision Making • The AP committee, AP of Instruction, Academic Dean and Guidance Counselor are the decision making bodies of the AP Program. • Decisions are made according to the AP Policies and Procedures • Decisions must be made after using the following “filters”
o Filter 1: All decisions must put the students 1st o Filter 2: All decisions must be alignment with the school virtues and expectations for a o
superior education Filter 3: All decisions must consider the constraints of the school—space, budget, human resources
Summary of Policies and procedures • Teachers must successfully complete AP course workshops/seminars provided by the Collegeboard •
Teachers must create their syllabus and submit the syllabus for the AP Course Audit through the Collegeboard. (Collegeboard has information on guidelines and procedures that must be followed for syllabus submission)

Policy on students dropping courses o Students are given up until the 1st marking period to drop an AP course. o If a student wished to drop an AP course after the initial deadline, the following steps need to be taken. The Teacher and student must have a meaningful conversation regarding the reasons behind the students wish to drop a course
If the teacher and student agree that the reasoning was not valid or that additional help will be need to support the student…
If the teacher and student agree that the reasoning is valid or that additional help not be sufficient to support the student…
Student Remains in the Course and follows through with the recommended y M additional support
The AP Committee must meet to discuss whether or not a student should be dropped from a specific course.
Next Steps and Considerations for next year: 1. Strictly enforcing the 1AP course and College If there is no improvement and the Now or 2 AP Courses policy as students are student wishes to drop the course being scheduled 2. Begin preparation for AP courses in the 9th grade. 3. Create more course alternatives for students who are removed from AP courses 4. Creating Small AP classes
Parent Conference is then scheduled.
