Public Schools Foundation of Tippecanoe County, Inc. 1100 Elizabeth Street, Lafayette, IN 47902-1159 · 765.429.4089 / [email protected]

September 2009 ANNOUNCMENT: The Public Schools Foundation of Tippecanoe County, Inc. is pleased to announce the opening of our 2010-11 grant cycle. Attached to this letter are guidelines for the “SEEDS FOR EXCELLENCE” and “PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT” grant programs and the 2010 applications. Please help us get the word out about our program by making copies available for your staff. You may also visit psftc.org or call the Foundation office for more application forms. In addition, this information will be sent to you electronically via an email message with attachments. All teachers, counselors, and principals in the public schools in Tippecanoe County are encouraged to submit proposals. Keep in mind Seeds for Excellence and Professional Development grants will be awarded in May 2010 for use during the 2010-11 school year. We are offering a new opportunity – FastTrack grants – that will provide funding for mini-projects (less than $500) during the current school year. This program is the result of our new partnership with DonorsChoose.org. FastTrack projects will be awarded at various times throughout the year when they reach full funding via DonorsChoose.org. Please see the separate attachment concerning FastTrack grants. Projects that meet multiple-classroom needs and are cooperative efforts between schools and corporations are encouraged. We hope that you will brainstorm with other teachers about projects that enhance students’ multiple learning styles and problem solving abilities and expand learning opportunities in the classroom. If you are considering a replication of a previous grant, it is most important that you explain the uniqueness and significance of your proposal. It is recognized that purchased materials are important to many projects. If that is a part of your request, it is important to identify creative uses in your narrative and justify your ideas. We will host a grant writing workshop on Tuesday, September 29 at Sunnyside Middle School, 2500 Cason Street, Lafayette. The seminar will run from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. and is free of charge. Registration is not necessary. We will be on hand to share previous grant success stories, assist you with your particular ideas and answer any questions about our program and the application process. We look forward to your grant application and to working with you to enhance and enrich the learning experience for your students. Sincerely,

Gerald H. Krockover, Chair Grants and Distribution Committee [email protected]
