ACTS OF THE 7th EUROPEAN ASSEMBLY OF LAY DOMINICAN FRATERNITIES
ANNEX Id REPORT ON THE WORK OF THE INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL OF LAY DOMINICAN FRATERNITIES (ICLDF) If you heard the saying ‘Join the Dominicans and see the world’, it can be said that it is true in my case! I was elected as the European Representative on the International Council of Lay Dominican Fraternities (ICLDF) at the Walberberg meeting of European Lay Dominicans in 2004. I took up office in March 2007, following the Congress of Lay Dominicans held in Argentina and I remain in office until March 2010. This has been a wonderful experience for me – meeting many other Dominicans from around the world. Delegates from 56 provinces and Vicariates participated in the Congress held in March 2007 in Buenos Aires. The delegates were divided into six working groups or Commissions: − Prayer and Preaching − Study and Formation − Government: Rule and Statutes − Organisation and Structure − Economic and Finance − Our Place in the Order and in the Church From their deliberations, proposals were made and passed and these are now available for everyone in the Acts from Argentina. If you do not have a copy already, I have brought some CD’s with me with everything printed in French, English and Spanish. Following on from the meeting in Argentina, the General Declarations regarding the Rule of Lay Fraternities of St. Dominic were formulated and approved by the Master, Fr. Carlos A. Azpiroz Costa OP, at a meeting in Rome and will come into operation on August 8th 2008, the Feast day of St. Dominic. A copy of the Declarations is also on the CD in Italian and English. Also on the CD are details of the Bank Account to which your subscription may be made. The suggested European Contribution is €1.50 per Active Member. Please try and support the ICLDF as best you can. The ICLDF is made up of 5members, from the 5 Regions around the world. Currently serving on the ICLDF are the following people:

The ICLDF meets once a year. Our next meeting is planned for Cameroon from June 18th to 23rd 2008. We will be staying at the Convent of the Franciscan Sisters at Bemenda. Here we will be discussing Issues such as: Establishing an office at Santa Sabina (we have acquired office space) and to Employ a Secretary on a part-time basis. Follow up on the Congress Commissions and Resolutions. Our purpose is to establish links for communication with Lay Dominicans worldwide and to support each other in whatever way we can. We thank the European Council for their support to date. We ask you to remember Mrs Patricia Robinson in your prayers, who is ill at the moment and who has contributed hugely to the establishment of the ICLDF. Remember us in your prayers. Our work continues. Patricia Kelly, Ireland, European delegate to the ICLDF.
