Murfreesboro, TN ~ Sunday June 7th was a special day at the Tennessee Auctioneers Association Summer Convention. Not only are auctioneers from across the State of Tennessee in town to conduct the associations business, they were also there to pay tribute to a very special auctioneer. The TAA Board created the Tennessee Auctioneer Association Humanitarian Award to recognize the efforts and achievements of those individuals within their profession who have exemplified the highest standards in their presentation of our craft. “The winner must maintain honesty and integrity in their professional dealings. Ted Williams memorabilia stolen SWANZEY, N.H. (AP) -- Ted Williams' fishing license and personal notes on local fishing holes have been swiped during an auction preview in New Hampshire.

Willard James Mayes Estate 9213 Hwy 49E, Orlinda, TN 37141

Boston Red Sox Hall of Famer, Ted Williams The model and actress was married to the Boston Red Sox hall of famer from 1967 to 1973. The items come from their Vermont home.

Picasso sells for $19 million The yellow-and-green 1968 Picasso, depicting a pipe-smoking musketeer, was offered by Jerome Fisher, co-founder of footwear company Nine West Group. The star lot lifted the total to $102.8 million, beating the $87.6 million low estimate as the highest-priced artworks found buyers. The tally was still Christies' lowest for Impressionist and modern art in New York since 2004.

Another late Picasso, Femme au chapeau, sold for $7.8 million to the Nahmad artdealing family, shy of the $8 million to $12 million estimate. The work was sold by painter and filmmaker Julian Schnabel,

VEHICLES: 1980 Chevrolet Custom Deluxe, straight 6, 3-speed on the column, short bed pick-up truck with 51,879 original miles and a 1975 2 door, V-8 automatic, Chevrolet Caprice Classic with 62,252 original miles, factory air and new tires. Both of these vehicles are in very nice condition.

TOOLS & OUTDOOR ITEMS: Craftsman skill saw, weedeater, misc. hand tools, Black & Decker drills, electric hedge trimmers, 4 HP tiller, wheelbarrow, yard spreader, and many more items.

There is pent-up demand to buy, said New York dealer David Nash. The estimates were reasonable, but some of the prices were really hard to follow. He said prices were high for the rare and the really ugly.

Ernst's current auction record is $2.4 million. Europeans were the buying majority, snagging 45 percent of lots, according to Christies. Americans bought 42 percent with Asians scooping up nearly 8 percent.

REAL ESTATE: This absolutely beautiful 137x114 lot has mature maple trees, dogwood trees, and a garden spot surrounding this all brick home built in 1971 and is on city water. This very well-kept home has approx. 1000 sq. ft., 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, living room, spacious kitchen/dining area, C/H/A, carpet and vinyl flooring, utility area is in the partial basement and has a 26x30 detached garage/workshop with electricity. The quiet and country feel of this home surrounds you, but yet city convenience is just minutes away in several directions. Take a drive out to preview this property and give us a call with any questions.

PERSONAL PROPERTY: Two 3-piece Waterfall style mini cannonball bedroom suites with bed, dresser w/mirror, and chest-of-drawers, antique and reproduction barn lanterns, dining room table on pedestal w/6 chairs, antique leather couch, sleeper sofa & chair, oak library table, costume jewelry, violin with case, 2 guitars with amps, rocking chairs, quilts, afghans, GE refrigerator, washing machine, miniature lamps, flatware, blue granite ceramic pieces, oatmeal glass, Sunbeam microwave, Savannah Company Yamaka china, bud vases, salt and pepper shakers, candy dish, sugar bowl, misc. glasses, Pyrex ware, decanters, TVs, box fans, step ladders, and many more items.

As the crowd poured out onto 49th Street after the 70-minute sale, dealers and collectors were relieved. The night before, Sothebys' aggressively priced lots by Picasso and Alberto Giacometti failed in an auction that fetched just $61.4 million.

A possible indicator of market jitters: on the day of the sale, Christies withdrew a 1928 surrealist Max Ernst, estimated to bring up to $9 million. The blue canvas was the featured artwork on Christies' sale press release.

Auction Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 10:00 A.M.

Auctioneer John Pappas tells the New Hampshire Sunday News the stolen items had drawn strong interest and could have fetched $1,000 or more at Saturday's auction. The 1970 license for "Theodore Williams" was in a small holder attached to a fishing cap, and the notes were tucked inside. The items were taken from the Knotty Pine Auction Service last week. Saturday's auction was the second time the auction service has sold items for Williams' third wife, Dolores Wettach Williams.

“Homme à la pipe” A Picasso was sold by a victim of Bernard Madoff's Ponzi scheme recently at Christies International for $19.4 million who acquired it from Picasso's son Bernard Ruiz Picasso in 1989.Schnabel's sale was motivated by real-estate debts linked to his construction of an Italianate pink condominium building in Manhattans West Village, he said in an interview with the New York Times. Collectors were reluctant to offer major works this season, but estate sales brought out fresh artworks.

. . . Rookies Let’s set the stage. This is an opportunity for those who have not previously won the contest, are now an apprentice or have less than 3 years auctioneering experience. These brave souls take their place on a stage in front of a room full of veteran auctioneers and their families. The contestants are asked to sell a couple of items they bring with them for the competition. From this performance, they are judged from a set criteria which includes, but is not limited to, the actual bid calling and the ability to get the bidding audience involved in the sale. For those who have had the pleasure, or as some will tell you, the misfortune of speaking in public, then you have some idea of how daunting a task this is. If you have ever delivered a speech or been asked to train, instruct or even brief your peers on any subject, then you are begining to get an idea how nerve racking this sort of contest can be. After the first round, four very talented auctioneers were cut down to the two finalists; Jeremy Robinson who apprentices with Ben Bray at Ben Bray Realty and Auction in Lafayette, TN and Jarrod Richardson who apprentices with David

T A A P r e s i d e n t Tommy Anderson (L) congratulates Jarrod Richardson on winning the 2009 Rookie Bid Calling Contest Allen at Music City Auction in Nashville. After a very spirited final round, Jarrod Richadson was chosen the winner of the 2009 Rookie Bid Calling Champion. Ferrari Testa Rossa sells for record $12.1 million in Italian auction MARANELLO, Italy – RM Auctions, in association with Sotheby’s, made history at the Ferrari factory in Maranello as a 1957 Ferrari 250 TR, chassis no. 0714TR s o l d f o r $12.1M at the third ann u a l Ferrari Leggenda e Passione event to set a new world record for the most expensive motor car ever to be sold at auction. Returning to its Maranello birthplace for its auction debut, the $12.1M sale price for 0714TR represents a new world record which was set at the same sale last year. “The historical significance of this car attracted a bidding war as collectors from around the world - both in the room and on the telephone – competed to secure one of the most alluring and iconic of all Ferrari racing cars,” said Max Girardo, Managing Director of RM Europe. “The eyes of the world were watching today’s sale as cars of this quality are so rarely offered to the market. The quality and the provenance of the Testa Rossa speaks for itself and the price we achieved today is testament to that. The beautiful and immediately recognizable Scaglietti-designed ‘pontoon-fender’ 250 TR was produced from 1957 to 1958 during which only 22 examples were constructed. The Ferrari 250 TRs entered 19 international championship races from 1958 through 1961 emerging with 10 victories and earning them legendary status among discerning collectors, as well as thehonor of being one of the most
