STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT All of the people in today’s readings – the prophet Isaiah, the Virgin Mary, St. Paul, St. John the Baptist – seemed to understand clearly and rejoice in what God was calling them to be and to do. Do I?

VOCATION THOUGHT Rejoice; never cease praying. Let us never cease praying for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Read 1 Thessalonians 5: 16-24.

PARISH ANNOUNCEMENTS Coffee and Donuts Unless we have volunteers signed up the week before, we will not be serving. Thank you for volunteering.! Oplatki, the Polish Christmas Wafer, is available in the church office during regular office hours. Don’t forget we have a wonderful nursery during the 10am Mass for children 4 and under. The nursery is not open holiday weekends.

Please help with our Children’s Liturgy Christmas Project: Donate old towels, blankets and any old cat or dog items to the Animal Shelter. Donations may be placed in the container in the narthex. CONGRATULATIONS AND WELCOME to Charlotte Avery, daughter of Bavy and Tina who was baptized last weekend. Mark your calendars! The All Saints Choir and Musicians, along with the Knoxville Youth Symphony Orchestra will be presenting the Christmas Cantata “Journey of Promises” by Joseph M. Martin. There will be two separate performances: Fri., Jan. 16th at 7pm and Sun., Jan. 18th at 3pm. Both performances will be held in the main church and open to the public. Donations will be accepted and all proceeds will benefit Catholic Charities. Attention business owners and managers: If you would like to display a flier promoting the upcoming Cantata in your establishment, please pick one up at the parish office or contact Kathy, [# omitted].

CATHOLIC WOMEN We have received a second printing of our best-selling parish cookbook! If you need hostess gifts, Christmas, birthday, Mother’s Day or other gift occasions, this is a beautiful book that shares information about our parish. Just $15, they are available in the office on weekdays. Martha & Mary morning group (all ladies of the parish are invited!!) meets this Wed., Dec. 17 at 9:45am in the lounge. Join our “video and discussion” salvation history study chocked full of info. Read Genesis 27-50 to finish our study of the Patriarchs. Enjoy our Christmas time hospitality and goodies. Questions? FAITH FORMATION Christmas Nativity Prelude at the 4pm Mass on Dec. 24: Kindergarten to grade 5 children are invited on a first come basis to participate. Parts still available are 3 shepherds and 6 angels. To have your child participate, call Peggy at 531-0770.

LITURGY COMMITTEE The Children’s Choir will lead masses on Dec. 21st and Dec. 24th at 4pm. We have added an extra practice for Mon., Dec. 22nd from 6-7pm to go over the Christmas Eve program. Anyone is welcome to join us at our extra practice if they would like to join us for Christmas Eve.

SPIRITUAL LIFE Please keep the members of our Armed Forces in your prayers, especially the ones who will be away from their loved ones during this blessed time of the year. Morning Prayer will be said throughout Advent beginning at 8:45am each day prior to daily Mass. Everyone is invited to participate and an easy, follow along guide is provided.

SOCIAL ACTION COMMITTEE Christmas Giving Tree. All gifts must be returned under the tree in the narthex today, Dec. 14th by 1pm. Please attach the tag to the gift. We will be ringing bells to help the Salvation Army on Thurs., Dec. 19th, Sat., Dec. 20th and Mon., Dec. 21st between 10am and 8pm each day at the Kroger on Middle Brook Pike. We will need volunteers to do this for one hour shifts during those times. Please email Shannon O. KNOXVILLE CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL KCHS is starting a recycling program! DIOCESE AND DEANERY Catholic Charities is again partnering with area churches to offer the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace classes, starting the week of Jan. 5. Cost is $55 for 10 weeks. Classes will be offered at Sacred Heart on Tuesdays from 7-9pm in the Shea Room. All Saints classes will be offered on Monday from 7-9pm in the Ed. Bldg. Holy Ghost classes will be offered on Thurs., from 7-9pm and St. Albert the Great will have Sunday classes offered from 2-4pm. Class size is limited. St. John Neumann parishioner Ellen H. recently published “Daily Thoughts for Friendly Fellows.” The book is a compilation of 365 inspirational uplifting poems and scripture verses. Christmas Concert: On Sunday, Dec. 21st at 8pm, a free Christmas Concert, provided by Catholic recording artist Donna Cori Gibson, will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Alcoa. Ms. Gibson has been called the Celine Dion of contemporary Catholic music. Her music is focused on her faith and religion, and includes word for word verses from the Bible and well-known prayers. A love offering will be taken at the end of the concert. Come and enjoy both a spiritual and musical event! Divorce and Beyond is a structured eight-week program for Catholic men and women who have experienced or are experiencing a divorce. Sessions cover the primary emotions experienced as a person works through the divorce process, including anger, blame and guilt, and forgiveness. This group will begin meeting on Tues., Jan. 13 from 6:308:30pm at the Chancery. Cost is $10.00.
