SECOND PETER CHAPTER 3 VERSE 9 ARE OFTEN QUOTED IN FAVOR OF UNIVERSAL ATONEMENT, AS A READY RESPONSE AGAINST LIMITED ATONEMENT: "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to usward, not willing that any should perish, but that ALL SHOULD COME TO REPENTANCE." (2 Pt. 3v9, AKJV, p.540) THE SIMPLE-MINDED TAKES EVERYTHING AT FACE VALUE - "ALL MEANS ALL" THEY BOLDLY PROCLAIM. BUT IS THIS TRUE?
The All When confronted with passages like Second Peter chapter 3 verse 9, the English reader assume "all" as referring to "each and every one". The Afrikaans reader assumes "almal" as referring to "elke een". Yet, repeatedly, Scripture itself, EXCLUDES SOME FROM ALL. In First Corinthians chapter 15 verse 17 we are told that God placed "all things" under the authority of Christ. Yet, in the same passage, we are also told that God Himself remains excluded from "all things". In Luke chapter 17 verses 26 to 27 we read that in the days of Noah, God "destroyed them all". Yet, Noah and his family wasn't destroyed.
Scripture References Josh. 11v19; 1 Sam. 17v14; Jn. 1v29, 13v17-18; 2 Cor. 5v14-15; Tit. 2v11; Heb. 5v9; Rev. 13v8, 17v8 "And AS IT WAS IN THE DAYS OF NOE, SO SHALL IT BE ALSO IN THE DAY OF THE SON OF MAN. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and DESTROYED THEM ALL." (Lk. 17v26-27, AKJV, p.461)
EDITOR'S NOTE: Yet, Noah and his family was not destroyed - only the wicked.

"For He hath put ALL THINGS UNDER HIS FEET. BUT WHEN HE SAITH ALL THINGS ARE PUT UNDER HIM, IT IS MANIFEST THAT HE IS EXCEPTED, WHICH DID PUT ALL THINGS UNDER HIM." (1 Cor. 15v27, AKJV, p.510)
