Nursing Process - Assessment (Pre-administration assessment Assess lung sounds, pulse, and BP monitor pulmonary function tests; observe for wheezing

Common side effects nervousness, restlessness, tremor; headache; insomnia; hyperactivity; chest pain; palpitations; angina; arrhythmias; hypertension; nausea; vomiting; hyperglycemia; hypokalemia; tremor; dry and irritated nose and throat; nasal congestion; hoarsness; bad taste in mouth; cough; wheeze; increased sputum Lab value alterations caused by medicine decrease in serum potassium concentrations

Be sure to teach the patient the following about this medication Proper use of metered-dose inhaler; Use albuterol first if using other inhalation medications, wait 5 minutes to elapse before administering other inhalant. Rinse mouth after use; wash mouthpiece once a week
