Case Report on Patient A with Scabies Using a Family Approach in Puskesmas Legok Working Area, Legok District, Tangerang Regency, Banten Province Period : 18th February – 14th April 2019 Dona Christin Victe1, Michelle Valeria Fredy1, Indra Mahardika1, Novendy2

ABSTRACT Background: Scabies is an infection by a host-specific mite, Sarcoptes scabiei var. homini, family Sarcoptidae, class Arachnida. Scabies is a worldwide disease which attacks any age, race and social economy status. In 2010, scabies is said to cause 1,5 million disabilities and the effect of indirect complications on kidney and cardiovascular function is greater. Data obtained from Puskemas Legok shows an increase of scabies from 38 cases in 2017 to 45 cases in 2018. Patient A is a resident of Legok village who suffered from a recurring scabies since two months ago. This case is interesting because the case suffered by patient A has been repeated and is feared to be a source of transmission for the family, friends and surroundings. Case: A 13-year-old-boy was presented to Puskesmas Legok with his mother complaining of constant itch and have not improve since the last 2 months, itching was felt especially at night. There are pimple like lesions containing pus, between the fingers and toes, arms, abdomen, to the genitals, enlarged and crusted. Based on the history and examination performed, patient was diagnosed with scabies with secondary infection. Discussion: Assessment is carried out with Mandala of Health, unresolved scabies is caused by the lack of knowledge and hygiene in the patient and family regarding scabies. In addition, family tend to not seek help from Puskesmas. Interventions have been done to patients and family for 4 weeks and showed improvements. Complaints of itching and skin lesions have diminished and there is an increase in hygiene and no new lesions arise. Keywords: Scabies, Family Medicine, Mandala of Health
