What is it? What does it do? one of the robotic pets. Classified as the an autonomous robot -it has the ability to learn, mature, and act on by itself from external stimuli.

acronym for ‘Artificial Intelligence roBOt’. -same pronunciation w/ Japanese word meaning ‘close friends’.

Who made it? When did they invent it? Where did they invent it? It was invented by Sony in Japan. -Sony : one of the biggest and most well-known media conglomerates -headquarter in Tokyo, Japan

There are many versions of AIBO -divided into 3rd generations -the first one invented : June 1999 -the most recent one : October 2005

How much is it? It is about $1,200.00.U.S.

How does AIBO work? hardware and software imitating senses of animal -help AIBO to interact w/ users and to navigate surroundings. shell of the AIBO is made out of plastic -keep the weight as light as possible.

Why was it invented? invented for entertainment. -‘the World’s First Entertainment Robot’. -It is to be a good friend with human beings like living pets. -It entertains the users in a variety ways such as teaching AIBO to behave and act in a certain way.

Conclusion  one of the most well known robots in the world.  an autonomous robot -able to react to stimuli by using its own sensors.  Designed for entertainment  Invented by Sony around 1999
