I Am Going to Talk About...  What AIBO is  What it does and how it works  When it was built  Where it was built and who designed it  What it was built for (why it was built) and how much it is

What Is AIBO?  A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) + robot = AIBO  A pet robot which looks and behaves like a real dog  Feelings, instincts, learning, and growth  Capable of autonomous behaviour

What does It Do? How Does It Work?  Expresses its emotions & instincts  Contains an Emotion model and an Instinct model with each six emotions, and four instincts  Communicates emotions through a variety methods such as body language

 Learns & Grows  Learning based on experience and environment

 Grows through developmental stages

 Senses  Has sensors corresponding to people's senses

What does It Do? How Does It Work?  Four highly expressive legs  Has 18 joints

 Memory  Behaviour and growth data are recorded and stored on an 8MB Memory Stick

When was It Built?  ERS-110/111 was built in 1999  ERS-210 was built in 2000  ERS-220 was built in 2001  ERS7 was built in 2003

Where was It Built? Who Designed It?  Totally designed, and built by Sony which is a Japanese company  Sounds were programmed by Novukazu Takemura  Bodies were designed by Katsura Moshino

What was It Built For? How Much is It?  To be an artificially intelligent pal  For home entertainment  To be a pet  $500 ~ $1700

We Know about AIBO.  A pet robot made by Sony  Behaves like a real dog  Learns, grows, and expresses its emotions

 Has sensors corresponding to human’s  Can be developed more and be a good friend for humans
