Dante’s Parallel Journeys- Circle 8, Bolgia 8 PhysicalDante and Virgil have crossed the bridge over Bolgia 7 and have arrived at Bolgia 8, using a “natural stair”. Dante then moves to the bride over the eighth Bolgia and is anxiously peering over the edge. MetaphysicalAs they climb the natural stair towards Bolgia 8, Dante mourns. When they arrive at Bolgia 8, he seems excited and describes how he leaned over the ledge of the bridge so much that he could have fallen off, and Virgil warns him of that danger. By being seemingly excited, he shows that he is getting used to seeing the brutal sights of Hell and maybe actually enjoying seeing punishment. By doing that, he shows that he is almost towards the end of his quest of understanding that the sinners get what they deserve
