Dante’s Parallel Journeys- Circle 8, Bolgia 7 Physical- Dante and Virgil climb the rocks out of Bolgia 6, to arrive over the top at a “stone pier” that overlooks Bolgia 7, which contains the thieves. MetaphysicalAt first, when Dante sees the thieves, he is frightened by the gruesomeness of their punishment. This shows that he is still somewhat pitying and forgiving of the sinners, and not quite at the end of his quest towards understanding that these people got what they really deserved. Though this is how he reacts at first, he quickly realizes that the sinners received fair punishment and was happy to see their retribution.
