FINANCIAL INVESTIGATION UNIT MANAGER

SCALE:

PO 7-10

REPORTS TO:

DETECTIVE CHIEF INSPECTOR – SCG

SUPERVISORY REPONSIBILITY:

DS (FIU), FINANCIAL INVESTIGATORS

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: To manage the Financial Investigation Unit, including District Financial Investigators. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: • Development and management of strategies to deliver against performance targets. • To develop and manage the maximisation of funds received through the relevant Home Office incentive scheme. • Maintain an overview of all Financial Investigations. • Maintain a strategic overview of all force policies relating to Financial Investigation and co-ordinate the force response to changes of legislation. • Take final decision in respect of case file progress or disposal options. • Manage and develop staff, including Financial Investigators at BCU, ensuring that all work meets the required standard, ensuring that relevant staff receive advice, support and regular contact from Headquarters. • Develop and sustain productive working relationships with agencies, groups and individuals to improve the understanding of Financial Investigation and extend the range of possible options for the use of Financial Investigation tools. • Co-ordinate assistance provided to Level II investigations and major incidents. • Oversee the management of all relevant reports. • Ensure that Financial Intelligence is developed and utilised effectively. QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE The postholder will hold or be studying for, accreditation with ARA as a Financial Investigator and Tutor and be designated as an Investigator under the Police Reform Act 2002.
