721st rob John T. Jack Moore - obit MOORE - John T. Jack Moore, 81 of Jacksonville Beach, died January 1, 2001 at Baptist Medical Center Ð Beaches. He was born August 17, 1919 in Albany, New York. In World War II, he served in the U.S. Army as a T5 in the 721st Railway Operating Battalion in the EuropeanAfrican-Middleast theatre of operations. During the Korean War, in 1951, he served in Korea as a corporal with the 724th Transportation Railway Operating Battalion. He retired as a conductor with the New York Central Railroad in Selkirk, N.Y. Mr. Moore was a Lifetime Member of the American Legion Post #129 and was a longtime chaplain of V.F.W. Post #3270. A loving family member, he was also a friend, an inspiration and an example for his many acquaintances here in Jacksonville Beach. Although he was a double amputee, he distributed poppies on Veterans Day. He was a member of St. Pauls Catholic Church and the Cooper-Holt Retirement Home. He is the last of seven siblings and is survived by his niece, Patricia Kennah of Albany, N.Y. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 5th in St. Pauls Catholic Church with Reverend Jim May as celebrant. Full Military Honors will be conducted by the Beaches Honor Guard following the mass and burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
