The discipline of sports for which relaxation is permissible as per table given below. If a candidate belongs to SC/ST category and fulfills the above criteria, he is eligible for 5 years relaxation in upper age limit over and above the relaxation prescribed at Clause 3(c)(i). In effect, he qualifies for relaxation in the upper age limit upto a maximum of 10 years. AGE-WOMEN CONSTABLE (EXE): 18to 25 years as on 01.07.2009, i.e. those born not earlier than 02.07.1984 and not later than 01.07.1991 will be eligible. PHYSICAL MEASUREMENTS (Qualifying) The candidates who qualify the physical endurance tests will undergo physical measurement immediately. (iii) Candidates seeking age relaxation on sports basis must note that the Sports Certificates should be of current three years and the issuing Federation conducting the National/International Championship should be affiliated with Indian Olympic Association. 10. WRITTEN TEST: All candidates, who qualify the physical endurance & measurement tests, shall be put through a written test of one and a half hour (1-1/2) duration which will carry 100 marks. The question paper will be of objective type and will include questions on Reasoning [35 Marks], General Knowledge/ Current Affairs [50 Marks] and Numerical Ability [15 Marks]. The question paper for written test will be bilingual (English and Hindi). 11. ADDITIONAL BONUS MARKS: (a) 3 bonus marks will be given to candidates who measure 178 cms. height or above for male candidates and 165 cms. height or above for female candidates. (b) 1 mark for NCC’B’certificate; (c) 2 marks for NCC’C’certificate: Maximum bonus marks for NCC certificate shall not exceed 2 marks. CUT OFF DATE FOR AGE AND RELAXATION IN UPPER AGE LIMIT: Age:- Cut off date for determining age will be 23rd November 2009 (23/11/2009) (a) Upper age limit is relaxable for SC/ST by 5 years and for OBC by 3 years. (b) Upper age limit is relaxable upto 5 years for a Govt. servant in accordance with the instructions issued by the Central Govt. (c) Relaxation of upper age limit for Departmental Candidates – (i) Upper age limit will be relaxable upto the age of 35 years in respect of persons who are working in posts which are in the same line or allied cadre and where a relationship could be established that a service rendered in the Department will be useful for efficient discharge of the duties in other categories of post in the same Department, provided the age concession will be admissible only where an employee has rendered not less than three years continuous service in the same Department. (ii) Upper age limit will be relaxable upto 40 years in respect of Departmental SC/ST candidates and 38 years in respect of Departmental OBC candidates satisfying the above conditions. (d) Upper age limit is relaxable upto 5 years in the following categories:(i) The children and dependent family members of those killed in 1984 riots and riots of 2002 in Gujarat. SC/ST/OBC relaxation as per Govt. instructions will be in addition. (e) Ex-Servicemen being trained soldier, only written test, trade test and medical fitness test to ascertain medical category will be conducted. As per Govt. orders total relaxation in prescribed physical standard and Education is admissible. Relaxation of upper age limit to the extent of military service plus 3 years is applicable. MEDICAL STANDARD: (i) Eye Sight: The minimum distant vision should be 6/6 and 6/9 of 2 eyes without correction i.e. without wearing of glasses. (ii) The candidates must not have knock-knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squint in eyes and they should possess high colour vision. They must be in good mental and bodily health and free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of the duties. 9. SELECTION PROCESS: The eligible candidates shall be issued Admit cards to appear in recruitment test. The date and venue of recruitment test will be indicated in Admit card. Candidates will have to undergo the following tests: a) CHECKING OF DOCUMENTS: The candidate will be required to produce the original and attested photocopies of the documents related to his Educational Qualification, Date of Birth etc. as mentioned in para 13. b) PHYSICAL MEASUREMENT: Candidates who are found eligible on checking of documents will be screened first for Height, Chest and Weight measurements as per Para 7. c) PHYSICAL EFFICIENCY TEST (Qualifying only): The candidates who are found fit in above Physical Measurements will be required to pass Physical Efficiency Test consisting of following events:(i) 1 mile race to be completed in six and half minutes (ii) 11 feet long jump (3 chances to be given) (iii) 3.5 feet high jump ( 3 chances to be given) Note: (i) Those who do not qualify the Physical Efficiency Tests will be discarded from that stage only and will not be allowed to appear in further tests. (ii) No Physical Efficiency tests will be held for Departmental Candidates and Ex-Servicemen. However, Ex-Servicemen will be required to pass the requisite written, Trade test and medical examination. d) SCHEME OF EXAMINATION:- The exam will consist of bilingual written test (objective/narrative questions), practical trade test and interview. WRITTEN TEST: Written Test which will consist of objective as well as narrative type questions. Candidates should have passed the Degree examination. Appearing candidates need not apply, (ii) For 35th SSC (T) Men and 6th SSC(T) Women. Candidates studying in the final year/ semester, of Technical Degree examination, (BE/B.Tech) can also apply but they will be required to submit proof of passing the Degree to Addl Directorate General of Recruiting (SSC(T)/SSC(T) Women Entry). Hence, total vacancy for War / Battle Casualty Widows in Non-Tech stream is 01. In case of non-availability of SSC (Tech) women officers to cater for 2.5% vacancies, the remaining vacancies can be filled by SSC (Non-Tech) women officers and vice versa. They will be eligible only if they have not remarried. The -unfilled vacancies will revert to the category other than that of widows. Upper age limit will be relaxable upto four years in respect of such candidates. A copy of death certificate and part-ll order is to be enclosed. CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY (a) Nationality: A candidate must either be (i) a citizen of India or (ii) a subject of Nepal or (iii) a subject of Bhutan or (iv) Tibetan origin but of Indian domicile, whose parents entered India as refugees prior to 1st January 1962 with intention of Permanently settling in India, (v) a person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and East African countries like Kenya, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambi, Malawai, Zaire, Ethopia and Vietnam with the intention of Permanently settling in India.Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and (V) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has however, not be necessary in the case of candidates who are Gorkhas subject of Nepal. (b) Physical Standards: (i) Height & Weight: The minimum acceptable height and weight for men is 157.5 cms with correlated weight and for women candidate is 152 cm and 42 kg. In case of candidates belonging to the North East and hilly areas like Gorkhas, Nepalese, Assamese and Garhwaiis, the height will be relaxed by 5 cms and weight commensurate with reduce height. In case of candidates from Lakshadweep, the minimum acceptable height can be reduced by 2cms. (ii) Visual Standards: The minimum acceptable visual acuity are: Distant vision (corrected) better eye 6/6, worse 6/ 18, Myopia of not more than minus 1.5 including Astigmation. Candidates who have undergone or have evidence for having undergone Radial Karatotomy to improve the visual acuity will be permanently rejected. Candidates who have undergone Lasik Surgery for Correction of reflective error are NOT acceptable. (iii) To be passed fit, a candidate must be in good physical and mental health free from any disability likely to interfere with the efficient performance of duty. 4. METHOD OF SELECTION: (a) Shortlisting of Applications and SSB Interviews: Initial checking of applications will be done at Additional Directorate General Recruiting, Army Hqs. Only eligible candidates will be called for and assessed under aegis of Selection Centres, namely Allahabad (UP), Bhopal (MP) and Bangalore (Karnataka) by Psychologist, Group Testing Officer and Interviewing Officer. Candidates will not be interviewed locally. Allotment of Selection Centre is at the discretion of Army Headquarters and no requests of changes are entertained in this regard. (b) Two Stage Selection Procedure: Two stage selection procedure based on Psychological Aptitude Test is held at Selection Centres. MEDICAL EXAMINATION: A candidate recommended by the Service Selection Board will undergo a medical examination by a Board of Service Medical Officers. Women candidates will undergo Medical Examination by a Medical Board comprising male/female, doctors/specialists/Gynaeocologist. There will be a Lady Medical Officer as member of Board. The proceedings of the Medical Board are confidential and will not be divulged to anyone. However, candidates declared unfit by the Special Medical Board (SMB) will be intimated by the president of the Medical Board. The procedure for request for Appeal Medical Board (AM) will also be intimated to the candidates. Unfit candidates should report for AMB within a maximum period of 42 days. Candidates are advised in their own interest to appear for AMB well in time and should not wait for the last date given by the SMB. Candidates are advised to note that Recruiting Directorate has no role to play in Appeal Medical Boards and procedure advised by the medical authorities is strictly to be adhered to. Training and Prospects : (a) Selected candidates for Technical Graduates Course willbe detailed for training at Indian Military Academy. Dehradun and those selected for SSC (Tech)/(N Tech) will be detailed for training at Officers Training Academy. Chennai according to their position in the final order of merit, discipline wise upto the number of vacancies available at the time (b) Duration of training (i) TGC: One year (ii) SSC Tech) : 49 weeks (c) Engineering Graduates will be granted Short Service Commission (on probation) and will be entitled to draw full pay and allowances admissible to Lt during training period. Pay and allowances will be paid after successful completion of training, (d) Training at IMA/OTA is at Govt. expense, (e) Technical Graduates course (i) Engineering Graduates will be granted permanent commission in the rank of Lt with two years antedate seniority from the date of granting commission, (ii) Non-engineering Post Graduates applying for AEC will be Granted Permanent Commission in the rank of Lt. However they are not entitiled to any ante date seniority, (f) SSC (Tech) (i) Engineering Graduate trainees will be confirmed in Short Service Commission with an antedate seniority of two years from date of confirmation. 7. The final allocation of Arms/ Services will be made prior to passing out of Lady/ Gentlemen Cadets from IMA/OTA. 8. SUITABILITY FOR RETENTION OF COMMISSION: If an officer is found unsuitable within six months of the grant of commission is his/her commission may be terminated at any time before the contractual period of service of ten years. Candidates withdrawn from IMA/OTA/Naval Academy/ Air Force Academy on disciplinary grounds are not eligible to apply. 9. LIABILITY OF SERVICE: Men and Women officers granted commission will be liable for service in any part of the world on selected appointments as decided by Army Headquarters from time to time. 10. PROMOTION: SSC officers will be eligible for promotion as per rule in vogue. 11. Tenure of engagement Short Service Commision to Officers (Male and Female) in the regular Army Will be granted for 14 years i.e. for an initial period of 10 years extendable by a further period of 04 years. Male Officers who are willing to continue to serve in the Army after the expiry of period of ten years in Short Service Commission may, if eligible and suitable in all respects, be considered for the grant of permanent commission in the 10th years of their Short Service Commission in accordance with the relevant rules. "Those SSC officers who are not selected for grant of PC but are otherwise considered fit and suitable, will be given options to continue as SSCOs for a total period of 14 years (including the initial tenure of 5 years) on expiry of which they will be released from the Army. SSC (Tech) Women Officers are not eligible for permanent commission. However, they can opt for extension of up to 14 years of service. 12. PAY AND ALLOWANCES AND OTHER BENEFITS AS APPLICABLE: During the period of training the candidates will be given a stipend of Rs. 21,000/- p.m. (Rs. 15.600/- as pay in Pay Band Plus Grade Pay Rs 5.400/-). On completion of training Officers are commissioned as Lt and entitled to the pay band of Rs. 15,600-39,000 with DA at present with other benefits like military service pay transport allowance, furnished accommodation, free medical facilities, LTC, 60 days annual leave, 20 days casual leave, canteen facilities, entitled ration as per scale and certain other allowances based on place of posting etc. Army Group Insurance provides insurance cover of Rs. 30 lakhs to the Gentlemen Cadets of IMA/OTA from the date of joining these institutes for pre-commission training. Regular officers on superannuation may be employed with the Army as re-employed officers upto the age of 58 years. 13. RESERVE LIABILITY: SSC Officers on release before or expiry of contractual length of service will carry reserve liability to serve the Army for five years plus two years on voluntary basis or upto the age of 37 years for women and 40 years for men whichever is earlier. 14. The final allotment of Arms/Service/Corps, at the time of passing out will be the sole discretion of Integrated HQ, Min of Defence (Army) keeping in view the existing policy.
