Detail of Sichuan Earthquake Epicenter: - In Wenchuan County of Sichuan province, China. - 80 km west-northwest of Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province. - 19 km depth.

Why did it happen ? Northward convergence of the Indian Plate against the Eurasian Plate at a rate of 4cm/year. Convergence was broadly accommodated by the uplift of the Asian highlands.

Why did it happen ? The northerly convergence motion of the Indian plate pushed the crustal material . Resulted in easterly motion of Tibet and eastwards. -> Resulted in Sichuan earthquake.

Why did it happen ?
