Today, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) announced its Panel of Economic Advisors and Panel of Health Advisors. The appointees included four board members of the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget (CRFB): on the Panel of Economic Advisors, Doug Holtz-Eakin, Rudy Penner, and Alice Rivlin; on the Panel of Health Advisors, Bob Reischauer. Both panels consist of experts in the field who serve two-year terms in which they advise and inform the CBO. "Our board includes some of the best budget minds in the country, and these four in particular have exceptional knowledge and experience," said Bill Frenzel, chairman of the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget. CRFB board member Tim Penny added, "we're navigating through some tough times now, where reliable budget information is more important than ever. I have no doubt that the CBO will benefit from these individuals' expertise."
