Month of Mary — Next month is May, the month dedicated by the church to honor Mary, the Mother of God. As a united community, in celebration and recognition of Mary during this special month, we want to crown her "Mary, Mother of Good Counsel." Crowning images and statues of Mary is a Catholic tradition, dating centuries back, through which we can express reverence for Mary and implore for her intercession. We invite all to join in crowning Mary on Wed, May 13th, at the daily noon Mass. To prepare to crown our own statue of Mary, we want to honor her this month in three ways: * First, each day before Mass, a student will lead the Regina Coeli, the church's traditional Marian prayer during the Easter season. * Second, to learn more about our Mother and how she is relevant today, we invite you to hear a Mariology talk during this week. For your convenience, there are four options for you. May 4th, 5th and 6th, the talk will be given from 7:45 to 8:15pm. May 7th, the talk will be given from 7:30 to 8:30pm, after which all are invited to an hour of Eucharistic Adoration. * Third, we want to honor our Mother Mary by entrusting her with our prayers and asking for her intercession. We invite you to write your personal intentions on our Prayer Mural, located in the atrium, in the alcove next to the stairs beneath the stain glass window of Mary. For more info, pick up a brochure in the atrium.

As Christ said, "Behold, your mother." Weekly Reflection Question: Jesus is our Good Shepherd who laid down his life for us. What can you sacrifice in return as a gift of thanksgiving? Vocations Corner If you are interested in talking more about a possible vocation to the priesthood, call Fr. Ed Nowak at 512-476-7351 x17 or Fr. Mike Sis, diocesan vocations director, at 512-949-2405. Paulist Vocations Retreat, May 8-10 in New York at the Paulist Motherhouse. Contact Fr. Ed Nowak for details. Oblate Vocations Retreat, May 22-24- Men, ages 18-37 are invited to visit the OMI Novitiate in Godfrey, IL.
