Twenty Ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time

2nd Collection This Weekend

Singers Welcome - 11 am Choir

In Support of World Missions On World Mission Sunday, Christians throughout the world focus attention on the great needs of the Church in the Developing World. We encourage prayer, personal sacrifice and generous financial support which are so vitally needed by more than 1,150 dioceses throughout Asia, Africa, the Pacific Islands and remote regions of Latin America . World Mission Sunday celebrates our unity as a human family and provides an opportunity to support the life-giving presence of missionaries and of the Church among the suffering and the poor of the Missions. We are all encouraged to live out our Baptismal call to be missionaries by supporting the Church’s worldwide missionary outreach in prayer and sacrifice. World Mission Sunday encourages prayer and financial support for the missionary work of the Catholic Church throughout the world. Our support provides: places of prayer and worship, improved health care and education for the poor of the world, support for missionaries and provides the training of thousands of catechists who teach, share and support the faith B on our behalf.

The music of this group (a chorale) will be in support of the Sunday liturgy. The most Important quality we are looking for is the desire to serve the Church and God generously with the talent one has been given. Interested singers are invited to call the parish office at 416-231-6016. Gordon Mansell will then set up an interview and audition. A commitment of eight week blocks would be acceptable.

Disaster Relief The Philippines and Indonesia are both suffering the results of recent natural disasters. The ShareLife office is accepting monetary donations to support disaster relief efforts and is directing funds through the Catholic Church’s official international relief network, Caritas Internationalis. Those wishing to make a financial

contribution may do so: - online through ShareLife’s website: www.sharelife.org - by phone through the Sharelife office - 416-934-3411 - through the parish, making cheques payable to:

Shut-in Visiting Ministry

ShareLife - OLS - Tropical Storm Ketsana Relief - Philippines OR ShareLife - OLS - Sumatra Earthquake Relief - Indonesia

Our Lady of Sorrows Parish has a Ministry to address the spiritual and emotional needs of the sick, elderly and shut-in of the parish. The Ministry of Shut-in Visiting is an outreach of the Ministers of Holy Communion. These appointed people visit and bring Holy Communion to those who are unable to join their Parish family in the liturgical celebration of Eucharist.

We offer our prayers for the thousands of families affected. Be assured that ShareLife does not apply any administrative fees to humanitarian relief contributions, ensuring as much money as possible is directed towards assistance of those in crisis.

This Ministry is available to parishioners who reside in the vicinity of the church. Please contact the parish office for more information.

Conquest Boys Club

Stewardship All discipleship involves mission. The bishops’ pastoral letter on stewardship reminds us, “Every member of the Church is called to evangelize, and the practice of authentic Christian stewardship inevitably leads to evangelization.”

OLS is launching a Conquest Boys Club for boys aged 612 - Monday nights at OLS School. Conquest is based on Catholic principles of spiritual development. Its programs are designed to instill virtue, develop character and encourage spiritual growth, in an atmosphere of sports, games and fun. For information contact Chris Brachman: [email protected] or 416-767-7816 - or the Parish Office.
