The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is an approach to the religious formation of children. It is rooted in the bible, the liturgy of the church, and the educational principles of Maria Montessori. Children gather in an “atrium”, a room prepared for them, which contains simple, yet beautiful materials that they use. On Monday and Tuesday afternoons, here at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, children 3-10 years old gather each week in the Holy Spirit Atrium. Although these groups are full to capacity, there are currently several spaces available for... Children 3-6 years old on Saturdays from 9:00 - 10:30 am. If you would like your child to participate in the Saturday sessions or if you would like more information about Our Lady of Sorrows’ Atrium and the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, contact Anna at 416-237-0529.

Let A Child Have Faith In You! Foster Home Campaign Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Toronto Each year in the Catholic community, there are hundreds of children that need to leave their family home and be placed in foster care. At any given time, there are more than 1,100 children and youth unable to live with their parents due to parental illness, abandonment, child abuse or neglect. The Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Toronto depends on loving foster families to provide safe and nurturing homes for these vulnerable children and youth. Sadly, there are not enough foster homes to accommodate these children in the Greater Toronto Area. In the words of Archbishop Thomas Collins: “I strongly believe that more Catholic families would be open to caring for foster children if they were aware of this urgent need for foster homes. I am inviting you to seriously consider fostering, and reflect on the benefits the experience can bring to your family and vulnerable children in the community.” The Catholic Children’s Aid Society continues to work with parishes to recruit foster homes through its Let a Child Have Faith in You campaign. If you would like more information about making a difference in the life of a child through fostering, please contact the Catholic Children’s Aid Society by visiting: www.ccas.toronto.on.ca or by calling 416-395-1590.
