Nanofabrication Manufacturing Technology (NMT)
What is Nanotech Camp? Nanotech camp is three days of education and fun that will introduce you to exciting career opportunities in nanofabrication manufacturing technology. Originally developed to produce microelectronic circuits, known as chips, nanofabrication manufacturing technology has grown to include uses in numerous industries. At the summer Nanotech Camp, you find out about the career opportunities that await you in industries that are using nanotechnology. You will also do many hands-on activities that will help you understand the small world of nanotechnology.
Where and When Is It? All activities take place at Penn State University in State College, PA from Wednesday, June 24, 2009 through Friday, June 26, 2009. Vans will be leaving from Northampton Community College’s Gates Center parking lot at 8:00 AM on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 and returning to the same lot on Friday, June 26, 2009 at approximately 4:00 PM.
What Will I Do While I’m There? 1.
Learn how high school computer science, electronics, robotics, math and science classes prepare you for entry into a community college or four-year college and in particular nanotechnology.

Learn about the NMT Partnership and how the “capstone semester” at Penn State will provide you with skills that will allow you to work in varied industries using nanotechnology.
3.
Visit the new educational cleanroom and the nanotechnology lab. You will be doing fun activities ranging from trying out some high tech microscopes to marketing a nano-product.
4.
Meet new friends who may become your future college classmates and co-workers.
5.
Stay 2 nights in a college dorm room with another student from your group. Meals will be provided along with tours of the Penn State Campus and planned activities.
Students who will be entering 10th, 11th or 12th grade in Fall 2009. There is an application process since there are only limited spaces available.
What is the Cost? The cost for this 3-day residential camp is only $75 which is used to cover the cost of transportation. The other cost are underwritten by grant funding received by the NMT Partnership.
