April 17, 2009 Dear Ewing Taxpayer, Enclosed is the final tax bill for the last quarter of our fiscal year (July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009). As you can see, there has been a decrease in the tax rate from 91 cents per $100 of assessed valuation to 89 cents resulting in a reduction of the amount of taxes due for this fiscal year. We wish that we could have brought this news to you sooner but many new laws and regulations of the State of New Jersey delayed the budget until now. Regardless of the reasons for delay, we are glad to announce this tax decrease and thank the Township’s Finance Department, as well all of the Township employees, in helping make a decrease a reality. Please be aware that the grace period for payment of taxes has been extended to May 14, 2009. Your prompt payment is a vital part of our budget calculations and everyone’s continued contributions helped make a decrease possible. Our tax collection rate was over 99 percent last year and was one of the best in the State so we really do appreciate the sacrifices that all of you are making.
