Newspaper Workshop/Fall 2008-2009

Newspaper Workshop Final Portfolio The semester final in this course is a portfolio of your work, along with reflections of your performance throughout the semester. DUE DATE: This portfolio may be turned in the following times ONLY. It must be personally handed to Mr. Neiffer (do not leave it on a box, or on a desk or with another teacher. There are NO EXCEPTIONS to this: • Tuesday, 20 January 2008, 1:10pm-1:30pm in Room 23 • Wednesday, 21 January 2008, 8:00am-2:00pm in Room 23 • Thursday, 22 January 2008, 8:00am-11:20am in Room 23 The portfolio will NOT be accepted early not will it be excepted late. Again, NO EXCEPTIONS. If you choose to do the portfolio all electronically (through sharing in BruinNewsRoomDocs), the portfolio must be shared with Mr. Neiffer AND an email sent to [email protected] by Thursday, 22 January 2008 at 11:00am. You will receive a confirmation email from Neiffer that you are done. If you don't receive the confirmation email, YOU AREN'T COMPLETE. Part I: Work from the semester Please construct a portfolio of work from throughout the semester. Include all articles, short articles and photographs you have taken. If the article was published, please note that in the title of the article and tell me which issue. Part II: Advertising from the semester Please construct a list of all advertising sold for the semester along with which issues you sold the advertising for. Part III: Questions for reflection Please type a response the following questions. These questions are the critical part of the final. Please be sure that your answers are both thoughtful and complete. • • • • •

What was the greatest contribution to the newspaper this semester? What was your biggest challenge? If you did the semester over again, what about your performance would you repeat? If you did the semester over again, what about your performance would you change? Keeping in mind the grading requirements (writing/photos, adversing, etc.), what grade would you give yourself for the semester? Why?

You may turn in the portfolio either as a PRINT DOCUMENT or ELECTRONIC document... your choice. If you turn it in as a print document, simply hand in your work in a stapled pile of documents, don't bother with a cover, etc. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS... ASK NOW. Don't wait until the last minute!
