Hello Everyone! Hope you all are having a great summer. Mine is moving too fast. Great job to Christine Carbaugh and all who participated in the Relay for Life. There was a Jaycee on the track at all times.

Let’s work to grow as a chapter, for leadership and community service, fellowship and fun. If you know anyone who might want to join, bring them along to a meeting or project! And there are plenty of projects coming up. The fall is our always our busy time of the year. It’s only summer, you say… but committees have already started to prepare for these projects, including the Crab & Chicken Feed, the Apple Harvest Festival, the Miss Hanover Pageant, the Halloween Parade, and more. Chairman and subchairs are needed, and help at the project is appreciated as well. Let us know if you are interested in any of these projects. COMMUNITY Karen Sentz, 2007 Community Development Vice President

I challenge you to make your life a masterpiece. I challenge you to join the ranks of those people, who live what they teach, who walk their talk-Anthony Robbins Outstanding Teamwork-That was the name of the game at the Relay for Life. Due to the dedication of many members we were able to pass the torch and have someone on the track walking the entire time of the relay from Noon on Friday to Noon on Saturday. Christine Carbaugh did an excellent job setting everything up for us, keeping our spirits up and making sure all of the administrative duties were covered. A special thank you to Kim Leese and Kelly Myers who made spirit shirts for all of the walkers and to Kim Leese and Diana Rumsey who carried the bulk of the difficult through-the-night hours. Also, a thank you to all of the Jaycees who came out with kids or extended family or friends. It was great to catch up with you! Our President went above and beyond in finishing up the final hour for us even though his wisdom teeth were taken out just 48 hours prior. Thank you Mr. President. It was a great show of teamwork which is what the Jaycees is all about! The Backpack for Kids project is underway--Thanks to the help of Liz Boyer, WalMart and the Hanover Red Cross. Last year we were able to provide 69 backpacks filled with school supplies to kids to get a fresh start on the new school year. This year let’s beat that number! I still need a chairperson for this super feel good project. I also need a chairperson for the Pass, Punt and Kick (football skills) Please let me know if you can help in any way with these worthwhile projects. Melanie Adams is preparing literature for the schools for our annual JAYSJaycees Against Youth Smoking program. The project is set to kick off with the start of the 2007-2008 school year. Nick Cracium held the first of many planning meetings for the annual Halloween Parade. We are still in need of sub-chairs. If you have questions for Nick, he can be reached at 637-0923.

Please call or email me with any questions or suggestions. 633-5198 or [email protected].

Financial Notes Jen Lupp, 2007 Financial Vice President Kids Karnival Don’t forget to come out and join us at Wirt Park on July 28th from 9 am to 3 pm. We will be out serving food, playing games, and doing other crafts for the kids. Thanks to Kari Weaver and her committee for their hard work and time on this project.

Seafood Raffle It’s still not too late to get your Seafood Raffle tickets from Kelly Myers. You have a chance to win shrimp, crabs, and beer all for $1.00! The winners will be drawn the night of the Crab and Chicken feed August 18th.

Crab and Chicken Feed Have a fun evening of crabs, chicken, and all you can drink beer on August 18th from 5pm to midnight. We will be at the New Oxford Social Club Pavilion dancing and playing games well into the night. If you, friends, and family are interested in helping attending contact myself or Sarah Lupp for tickets. We will need some help in the kitchen and at the jars as well so give me a call if you are able to help!

BINGO Kelly Myers, Kim Leese, and I will be heading up to Lancaster to help with the last Bingo on August 10th. Due to financial matters, the State Bingo Hall in Lancaster will be closing in September. Thanks to everyone's help with this project!

Chicken BBQ Due to our success with the last Chicken BBQ, we are going to try again. Save the date for September 22, where we will be plucking and serving chickens. Kathy Main has volunteered to chair this project. More information will be provided soon!
