Title : Study & Observation the Foundry Shop.

Layout : 1. Induction Furnace 2. Cupola Furnace 3. Tilting Furnace 4. Pit Furnace 5. Coke Oven 6. Sand Roller Machine 7. Sand Blasting Machine 8. Sand Mixture Machine

1. Induction Furnace : Its initial Cost is high. It is a large System. Its Capacity : 300kg Its Application : Cast Iron & Steel It Produce 1500-1600 C

2. Cupola Furnace : There is a Chamber inside the furnace. This Chamber is being arranged by scrap, hard coke, lime stone & cast iron during operation. This furnace is used only for cast iron. It produce 1400-1500C.

3. Tilting Furnace : There is a chamber in the furnace which is being tilted. Actually, metal molt inside this furnace. Natural Gas & Air is Used as fuel. It is used for nonferrous.

4. Pit furnace : There is a hole which is surrounded by fire brick. Berfore operating a crucible is putted in the hole.Whole furnace is arranged simply. Handling this furnace is very difficult .

5. Coke Oven : This machine is used for removing the moisture of core. 6. Sand Roller Machine : It is Used to remove sand from the job by rotating wheel. 7. Sand blasting machine : It is used to remove sand from the small type of job. 8. Sand Mixture Machine : It is used to mix sand mold . Page-6

Types of Mold : 1. Green Sand Mold 2. Carbon dioxide Mold

Green Sand Mold : It is made by combination of silica , sodium silicate , coal dust & clay.

Carbon dioxide Mold : It is made by combination of sand , sodium silicate , coal dust , saw dust.

Description : There are two parts of mold such as cope & drag . The combination of cope & Drag is known as Flux.
