PFHL Course 302-- Eternal Life Key Scriptures suggested answers (by Bill Stevenson) Part 1 suggested answers: Ecclesiastes 3:9-15 What has God put into human beings “hearts”? the hope for living forever. How can God use human labor? to bless individuals, even with gifts that will last forever (example: wisdom of His truths) Ecclesiastes 12:1-7 What does knowing that there will be life after physical death mean personally to you? Answers will vary about believing in possible eternal life with God. How such believing is especially assuring during times when we are being challenged or/and tested. Isaiah 60:15-22 What were Israel’s forever blessings from God? in the future for believing Jews-- excellence, everlasting light or guide to truth, a new physical place to live, glory of God, no more mourning, righteousness, and land possession Isaiah 57:13-16 What does it mean “Who inhabits eternity” and “I will not contend forever” mean? God lives eternally; He has lived and will live for all of time. He will not contend with human sinning forever. The Age of Grace will end for the human race. Psalms 49:6-14 What are two the false hopes about lasting forever? Individuals trusting in wealth and thinking that their dwelling places would last forever. What can’t a rich man do? He can’t redeem his brother or anyone else so that he or she can live forever (eternally). John 5:31-47 How can religious people get false assurance of having eternal life even from their reading of the Bible? Have you been mislead about teaching about Christian Salvation and the promise of eternal life? Answers may vary about reading Scripture wrong and wrong religious teaching. Luke 10:25-37 What is the most important way to inherit eternal life with God? to love God totally and to be compassionate for others. One must be spiritually reborn of the Holy Spirit by believing that God had to send His only begotten Son to die for the sins of human beings. He or she must also does God’s truth, good public deeds in God (with unselfish motives and because of Holy Spirit urgings). See Ephesians 2:8-10. John 6:28-71 What was repeated by Jesus and how many times? “Eternal salvation” means being saved from sin forever. “Eternal redemption” means being forever redeemed from the God’s death penalty for breaking His Law. “Through the eternal [Holy] Spirit” means via the Holy Spirit Who is forever existing. “Eternal inheritance” means forever being blessed by God. What was required for human beings to be able to be rewarded eternal life in the future Jesus Christ had to die (shed His blood in physical death) for mankind’s sins against the Law of God. Acts 13:42-52 & 15:6-21 What was the main reason for many Jews with early Christian teaching? pride that they already had Salvation because of being God’s chosen people. Accepts and trusts the Gospel, commits his or her life to obey Scripture and pleasing God, and increases hate for the things of the secular society lifestyle. How does one serve Jesus Christ? By becoming more and more unselfish in saying and doing things for others in need. Matthew 25:31-46 What is promised for the compassionate unselfish people? God’s blessing-- receiving part of God’s kingdom and permission to go “into eternal life”. What is promised for the uncompassionate selfish people? a divine curse including a dismissal by Christ Jesus “into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels” and “everlasting punishment”. John 10:22-38 How does Jesus Christ insure eternal life for believers? Because God the Father is greater than all, has sanctified Him and let him do miracles on Earth. God the Father is in Him and He is in God the Father. 1 John 2:21-27, 1 John 5:10-13 & 20 How can you absolutely and experientially know that you will have eternal life? By remembering what the Epistles in the New Testament say about eternal life and by witnessing increased feeling of living in Christ Jesus (being more Christ-like and less selfish) in my life.

Jude 1:20-25 What should a Christian do knowing that he or she has eternal life in the future? (6 major things) build up holy faith, pray in the Holy Spirit, keep in the love of God, look for the mercy of Jesus Christ unto eternal life, have compassion towards others, and hate the things of sin. John 17:1-5 What do you think “the hour” for the special divine glorification of Jesus Christ was and how does that relate to eternal life for believers of what His death on the Cross did for them? “The hour” means the resurrection of Jesus Christ because that happening made Christianity unique among religions and showed that Jesus Christ paid the price of the death penalty for disobeying God’s Law. It was the greatest event in the history of mankind. John 4:27-42 How does one gather fruit for eternal life? By doing God’s will, especially looking for opportunities to encourage individuals to seek Jesus Christ. Continue sharing of Christian Salvation and other Biblical truths needs to be done much more also. You will probably find that Holy Spirit convicting and Holy Spirit-led witnessing and teaching have usually been done already. 1 Peter 5:5-11 What else is to be for eternity?
