From Radio to TV . Technological advances at the time allowed people to watch current events , rather then just listen to them on the radio . At the beginning of television , there was only one channel which was the BBC , which had limited programming and was in black and white .
The picture the early televisions delivered was blurred and the overall picture quality was bland as well as being hard to hear and overall horrid to watch . But its better then listening to the radio , this was a huge leap in the technology at the time .
• TV quiz shows really started in the 1950`s with shows like “ what's my line ? ” and “ Animal , Vegetable or Mineral ? ” • Some were formats imported from the USA , others were homegrown . • In the beginning there was only one TV channel in the UK around this time .

•On game shows today money is much higher . •£32.00 is just over £600.00 in today's money . •There was regulations that limited the amount of prize money that could be won , until the 1990`s . •The jackpot on “Double Your Money” was actually £1000.00 , but the “Double Your Money” only went up to £32.00 •Contestants were placed in an “isolated booth” to avoid distractions . •£1000.00 in 1955 is the equivalent to £18,870.00 in 2009 .
