Celiac Disease • Prevalence: 1 in 80 - 1 in 300 • GI Sxs: – FTT, abdominal pain and/or distention, vomiting, constipation, rectal prolapse, celiac crisis.
• Other keywords/sxs: – dermatitis herpetiformis, dental enamel defects, Type 1 DM, IgA def, short stature and 1st degree relatives with CD, autoimmune thyroiditis, unexplained anemia
• Diagnosis: – IgA TTG, Serum IgA, • IgG can be used in IgA deficient individuals • All should be confirmed with biopsy (2nd part or more distal duodenum)---Keyword: Villous Atrophy, hyperplastic crypts with lymphocytic infiltration
