Divine Blessings for the True Children of God (Scripture responses by Bill Stevenson) Directions: Look up each Scripture passage and decide if you agree with my comments and responses. Why did God create you? Matthew 22:36-39-- to love God and people around us 1.) Ephesians 1:3-14-- to receive divine blessings because of our belief in Christ Jesus and to be God’s pleasure (“unto the praise of His glory” 2.) Proverbs 3:5-6-- to trust God completely at all times acknowledge Him when appropriate (especially by being thankful to Him) and to heed to divine guidance via the Holy Spirit and the Bible 3.) Philippians 4:4-8-- to rejoice a lot, to humbly live, to be anxious for nothing to do unselfish praying (supplication) with thanksgiving to receive divine peace to think about things that are true, honest, just, virtuous, and praiseworthy 4.) Romans 12 & Ephesians 3-5-- to have our minds transformed so that we will enjoy giving-up bad habits of thinking and wanting to do help others by doing various ministries What are characteristics and goals of a true Christian? 1.) 1 John 2:3, 5-6, 10, 15-17-living as God wants him/her to (being more and more Christ-like by obeying God’s commandments) loving other human beings and loving nothing of the world (things that feel good, that look good, and that can be boasted about) 2.) 1 John 3:2-3, 6a, 7-11, 14a, & 23-24-have the hope for the Second Coming and of immediate divine transformation to Christ-likeness at that time for all true Christians, purifies (sanctifies) himself or herself by not deliberately doing wrong but instead doing righteous things especially loving others believing on the name and character of Jesus Christ and obeying His commandments 3.) 1 John 4:6-7, 12, 16, 18a, & 21-getting to know God intimately loving others without fear letting God’s forever and unselfish agapè love be perfected in him or her especially for other Christian brothers and sisters 4.) 1 John 5:2-3, & 18-21-loving God and keeping His commandments without grieving about the latter not deliberately doing wrong while knowing (a) that he or she is of God (b) that much wickedness is in the whole world (c) the facts of Jesus Christ and the Gospel, and (d) that each believer can get to know Jesus Christ for eternal life Thus he or she should keep from wrong worship 5.) 2 John 9b-- lives in the teachings of Jesus Christ 6.) 3 John 3-4, & 11ab-- known for being truthful, following and doing good not evil

Romans 8:24-26 & 28-30-knowing that he or she is saved by hope and being patient knowing that all things will eventually work together for good to those who love God who are called according to His purpose 8.) Romans 6:1-4, 11-19, & 22-becoming dead (not controlled by) in relation to sin (unrighteousness) and living more for God in righteousness (deciding not to yield to sinful pleasures) because of the Gospel and obeying Christian teaching having “fruit unto holiness” and eternal life What are characteristics of professing "Christians"? 1.) 1 John 1:8-- saying that they have no sin 2.) 1 John 2:4, 9, 11, & 15b-17a-saying that they know Jesus Christ while they are not keeping His commandments hating other Christian believers, living in untruthfulness and darkness loving the things of the world (lusting and boasting) as the world passes away (deteriorates) 3.) 1 John 3:4, 6b, 8, 10, & 15-deliberately committing sins including not loving other believers of Christianity and hating others 4.) 1 John 4:18c & 20-fearing a lot and saying that they love God but at other times speak hate against others 5.) 2 John 9a-- doing wrong against or contrary to the teachings of Jesus Christ 6.) 3 John 11c-- doing evil 7.) Romans 8:5a-- attracted to saying and doing things that appeal to the physical senses 8.) Galatians 5:19-21-involved with or/and condoning “adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like”. 9.) 2 Timothy 3:2-5a-“lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of Godliness but denying the power thereof”. 10.)2 Peter 2:20-22-being “again entangled with the pollutions of the world” after escaping from such “through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” 11.) Hebrews 6:4-8-falling away from being divinely “enlightened” blessed, “partakers of the Holy Ghost and “tasted the good Word of God and the powers of the world to come” while trying to renew themselves again unto religious repentance and yet doing things hurtful to others

What does a true Christian receive from God? Note: Many of the following indicated Bible verses were from Jack Taylor's “Who We Are In Christ” list. So I have changed some of my responses to first person tense. I hope that you can identify personally too. 1. Divine Assurance-John 3:16-- eternal life-- guarantee of not perishing Romans 6:23-- eternal life in Christ Jesus 1 John 2:25 & 5:11-15-- eternal life in Christ Jesus access to God via prayer John 10:27-29-- communication via the Holy Spirit with Jesus Christ eternal life guarantee of not perishing divine protection (never being separated from God the Father) Philippians 4:6-7-- divine guarding of my heart and mind through Christ Jesus Romans 5:1-- peace with God the Father Romans 5:10a-- reconciliation to God the Father Romans 5:17-- abundance of grace the gift of righteousness reigning in my life through Jesus Christ Romans 6:2-6-- newness of life with resurrection power freedom from being slaves of sin Galatians 2:16-21-- divine justification by faith in Christ Jesus capability to live to or for God the Father capability to live by faith in Jesus Christ instead of living for selfish reasons Romans 6:12-14-- capability to not let sin reign and have dominion in my body not obeying lusts and being unrighteous the right to present myself to God the Father completely righteous Romans 12:1-2-- capability to present to God the Father my body as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to Him freedom from being conformed to this world capability to be transformed by the renewing of my mind so that I can prove what is that good, acceptable, and perfect will of God the Father Romans 8:1-- having no condemnation capability to live be guided by the Holy Spirit instead of selfishness and lusts Ephesians 2:8-10-- divine Salvation by grace being created in Christ Jesus for good works already prepared or desired by God the Father Colossians 1:10-14-- capability to live worthy of Jesus Christ, fully pleasing Him being fruitful or successful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God being strengthened with God’s divine power for patience, longsuffering with joy and thankfulness qualification for future partaking of Christian inheritance from God the Father deliverance from the power of sin and Satan transference into the Kingdom of Jesus Christ. Divine Importance-Ephesians 1:4-14-- having been chosen before the foundation of the world future opportunity to be holy and without blame before God in agapè love predestined to adoption as a child of God by Jesus Christ according to the pleasure of God the Father being made divinely accepted in Jesus Christ having redemption (from the death penalty of violating God’s Law) through Jesus’ death having forgiveness of sins according to the riches of God’s grace much divine grace in all wisdom and prudence knowledge of the mystery of God’s will, according to His good purposed pleasure future deliverance from the sinful world having the inheritance of being predestined according to the purpose of Jesus Christ able to be to the praise of God’s glory sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise Who is the guarantee of the inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession to the praise of God’s glory

Colossians 3:4 & 24-- guaranteed to be part of the resurrection of the righteous (1 Corinthians 15:35-57) and in Heaven afterwards guaranteed to receive the reward of the inheritance of Jesus Christ because of serving Him 1 Thessalonians 4:3-7-- being part of God’s will of human being sanctification being able to abstain from sexual immorality as I learn how to keep my body in sanctification and honor, and not in passion and lust to avoid being defrauded called by God to holiness not uncleanness 2 Thessalonians 2:13-14 & 3:1-- being beloved by Jesus Christ chosen by God for Salvation for sanctification by the Holy Spirit and belief in the truth called by the Gospel for the obtaining of the glory of Jesus Christ able to be part of the spread and glorification of the Word of God 2 Timothy 1:9-10-- saved and called by God with a holy calling, not according to works but according to God’s purpose and grace being part of God’s grace given in Christ Jesus before time began, revealed by the His life on Earth Titus 2:14 & 3:4-7-- worthy of Jesus Christ dying for to redeem (purchase freedom) me from every unrighteous deed (all iniquity) worthy of Christ’s attention to be part of His church purification program chosen to be a member of the special people of Jesus Christ zealous for good works worthy (not by righteous works) of God’s kindness, mercy, and love, and salvation via Jesus Christ and the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit worthy of being justified by God’s grace and of becoming heirs according to the hope of eternal life Hebrews 6:4-6 & 10:39-- divinely and Scripturally assured to the saving of my soul without going back to a life of sin Hebrews 12:28-- able to increasingly receive and experience the Kingdom of God (involving righteousness, peace, and joy via the Holy Spirit-- Romans 14:17) which cannot be shaken able to ask for grace from God so that I can serve God acceptably with reverence and Godly fear 1 Peter 1:2-5 & 7-9-- elected according to the foreknowledge of God the Father to be obedient in sanctification being guided by the Holy Spirit begotten by God the Father according to His abundant mercy for me to have a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead divinely and Scripturally assured to being rewarded in Heaven, an inheritance which is incorruptible, undefiled, and never fading away and “kept by the power of God through faith for Salvation to be revealed in the last time” my genuine faith is divinely considered more precious than gold and can be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ (the Second Coming) having the Salvation, which is the saving of my soul and will be the end of my faith, was inquired and sought by God’s Old Testament prophets and was/is desired to be investigated by the angels 1 Peter 2:5 & 9-- chosen by God the Father to be lively like Christ and precious, part of the church, and

a holy spiritual leader to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ chosen by God the Father to be part of a chosen and special group that is God’s people, a royal priesthood who can proclaim the praises of Jesus Christ and deliverance from a sinful life the people of God who have obtained divine mercy 1 John 2:1, 27, 3:1-2, & 4:17-- being defended by Jesus Christ to God the Father when I sin being anointed by God the Father being so loved by God that I should be called a child of His and know Him knowing that at the Second Coming that I will be like Him having agapè love perfected in me so that I will be able to have boldness in the Day of Judgment, because as God is, so I am in this world 1 John 5:20-- considered special enough by Jesus Christ to be blessed with understanding from Him (via Holy Spirit and the Bible) that I may know Him and be more in Him as I become more like Him Who is true Revelation 1:5 & 6-- truly loved by, spiritually washed (purified) from my sins, and made a spiritual king and priest to God the Father by Jesus Christ Who is “the faithful witness, the firstborn form the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the Earth”. 3. Divine Help-Titus 2:14-- Jesus Christ gave Himself for us so that He could redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people zealous for good works. 1 Peter 1:2-5 & 7-9-- I am elected according to the foreknowledge of God the Father to be obedient in sanctification being guided by the Holy Spirit I am begotten by God the Father according to His abundant mercy for me to have a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead I am divinely and Scripturally assured to being rewarded in Heaven, an inheritance which is incorruptible, undefiled, and never fading away and I am “kept by the power of God through faith for Salvation to be revealed in the last time” My genuine faith is divinely considered more precious than gold and can be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ (the Second Coming). I am having the Salvation, which is the saving of my soul and will be the end of my faith, which was inquired and sought by God’s Old Testament prophets and was/is desired to be investigated by the angels. Romans 5:1-- I have peace with God the Father through my Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:56-57 & 1 John 4:18-- Because I believe the Gospel, I don’t have to have any fear about death (physical or spiritual). 2 Timothy 1:7-- God has given me a spirit of power, of love, and of a sound mind, not a spirit of fear. 2 Corinthians 5:1-8 & 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18-- I will eventually physically see and be with Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:12-- I can know the things (especially Salvation) that have been freely given to me by God.

Colossians 1:9-12-- I can be filled with the knowledge of God’s will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding so that I can live worthy of Jesus Christ, fully pleasing Him being fruitful or successful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God At any time, I can be strengthened with God’s divine power for patience, longsuffering with joy. I should be thankful to God the Father Who has qualifies me to be a partaker of the inheritance in Heaven. Romans 8:3-6-- Because of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, the righteous requirement of the Law was fulfilled for me. I am now able to walk according to the Holy Spirit, being guided by Him whenever I want. I can set my mind on the things of the Holy Spirit, the wisdom and promises of God the Father. I can live for good purposes and have peace (that surpasses all understanding, Philippians 4:7) from God. Romans 5:17-- I have received abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness from God. I will always be able to reign in my life through Jesus Christ. I can always have proper confidence and I don’t have to feel like I am a failure. Romans 8:28-- I can always have hope for my situation getting better. Romans 8:38-39-- I can always experience the unselfish agapè love of God. Romans 5:3-5-- I am able to glory in tribulations (troubles, upsets, tragedies, betrayals) because I know that tribulation produces perseverance, which produces character, which produces hope, and that hope does not disappoint because the wonderful love of God has been poured out in my heart by the indwelling Holy Spirit. 2 Corinthians 1:3-5-- The God of mercies and all comfort comforts me in all my tribulation so that I can be able to comfort and encourage those who are in any trouble. 2 Corinthians 2:14-- God will always lead me in success (triumph over challenges) in Christ Jesus and through me His Word will be exemplified and taught. 2 Corinthians 3:5 & Philippians 4:11-12 & 19-- My sufficiency is from God; He will always provide for all of my needs. I can learn to always be content or satisfied in all situations. Hebrews 13:5-6-- I am to keep my conduct without covetousness and be content the things I possess already because God said that He will never leave or forsake me. 2 Thessalonians 3:5-- Jesus Christ, via the Holy Spirit, will direct my heart and mind into the love of God the Father and into the patience of Christ. Philippians 4:6-7-- When I communicate with God in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, I will receive the peace of God which surpasses all understanding and guards my heart and mind through Christ Jesus. 1 John 5:14-15-- I can ask anything according to God’s will. God hears me. I can know that I have the petitions that I have asked of Him. Philippians 4:13-- I have the talents and strength to do anything that Jesus Christ approves of (which is urged by the Holy Spirit).

1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 & Philippians 1:6-- I will be sanctified completely by the faithful God of peace. Because of divinely helped sanctification, my whole spirit, soul, and body can be preserved blameless until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Hebrews 13:20-21-- God the Father Who is the God of peace and Who brought up my Lord Jesus from the dead will make me complete in every good work to do His will working in me what is well pleasing in His sight through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Hebrews 12:7-11-- God loves me so much that He disciplines me when necessary for my sanctification. His discipline is not joyful or painless, but it always yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. 1 John 2:5, 3:24, & 4:12-- God’s love is perfected in me when I obey His commandments. 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17-- My Lord Jesus Christ and God the Father comforts my heart and establishes me in every good word and work. (According to Ephesians 2:10, the latter is already prepared by God.) 2 Timothy 3:16-17-- I can become complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work, if I use the Bible for inspiration, profitable doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 & Philippians 4:13 & 4-- God’s grace is sufficient for me. His strength is made perfect in my weaknesses. The power of God can rest upon me and help me. I can even take pleasure for Christ even when I am sick, physically hindered, of needs, being persecuted, or in distress. I can rejoice in any situation. (Things could always be worse and there is always something to be thankful for.) Hebrews 4:16-- Because of Jesus Christ and my faith in Him, I can boldly pray to God the Father, Who rules with grace, so that I can obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of my need. Hebrews 1:13-14-- God has created angels who are ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation. Ephesians 1:17-21-- I can receive wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of God the Father. I can understand better so that I can know what is the hope of God’s desires for me what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints what is the exceeding greatness of His resurrection power toward me and for me. 2 Peter 1:2-4-- Grace and peace are increased in me via my learning more about God the Father and Jesus Christ. I can receive the wisdom that pertains to life and Godliness by knowing Christ more. I can be a partaker of the divine nature, Christ-likeness by believing God’s great and precious promises. God helped me escape “the corruption that is in the world through lust”. 2 Peter 3:13-- I have the greatest hope of all according to one of God’s greatest promises to look forward to, new heavens and a new Earth in which righteousness dwells.

Matthew 11:25-30-- I can receive all about what is pleasing and displeasing to God the Father. Jesus Christ has willed revelation about God for me to learn. I can get rest in my soul and mind from Jesus whenever I labor and feel very stressed, just by joining with Him (letting Him be involved with me in the labor and the stresses) and learning from Him because He is a gentle and humble teacher via the Holy Spirit. Whatever Jesus Christ asks me to do will be easy and not stressful. Ephesians 3:16-20-- I am able to be strengthened with might internally (spiritually) by God the Father according to the riches of His glory and via the Holy Spirit so that Jesus Christ may dwell in my heart through faith. I will be increasingly be rooted and grounded in unselfish agapè love from God. I might be able to comprehend with all the saints the fullness and extent of the love of Christ which passes knowledge. I may be filled with all the fullness of God. I am able to receive blessings from God that are “exceedingly abundantly above all” that I could even imagine. I can be a vessel and instrument of God’s power. Philippians 2:13-- God works in me “both to will and to do for His good pleasure”. Ephesians 6:10, 13, & 16-- I can “be strong in the Lord and the power of His might”. I am able to take up the spiritual armor so that I can “be able to withstand in the evil day” and stand for my faith in God in the spiritual warfare. 1 Peter 5:7-- I can cast all of my care upon God because He cares for me. 2 Timothy 4:18 & 1 Corinthians 10:13-- Jesus Christ will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His Heavenly kingdom. God is faithful and will not allow me to be tempted beyond what I am able, providing an escape if necessary. Hebrews 12:2-3-- Jesus Christ is the author and finisher of my faith, and is the best role model or example for me. 1 Corinthians 2:16 & Philippians 2:5-8-- I can think like the humble and compassionate Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 & Ephesians 6:14-18-- The weapons of God for me to use-truth, righteousness, the preparation of the Gospel of peace, faith, Salvation, Scripture (which is the main weapon of the Holy Spirit), and prayer are all mighty for pulling down strongholds (eliminating bad habits), refuting arguments, theories, reasonings, and whatever is against God’s truth and boasted about. These spiritual weapons can help me to handle every thought that comes to me according to the commandments of Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 3:3-- Jesus Christ is faithful in establishing me and guarding me from Satan.

James 1:2-5 & Matthew 5:11-16-- I can count it all joy when I am put into various trials knowing that the testing of my faith produces patience and that patience helps me to become perfect and complete lacking nothing. At anytime or in any situation I lack wisdom, I can ask God, Who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and I will receive the needed wisdom. Jesus said that when they are reviled, persecuted, and falsely criticized for His sake, they will be divinely blessed and can rejoice and be exceedingly glad because great will be my reward in Heaven. I can be a spiritual salt and light of the world by my good works and the just mentioned will glorify God the Father. Philippians 3:7-11-- I am allowed to get to know Christ, which is the excellence of knowledge and is far better than my past successes or anything of the world. By my increasingly learning more about Christ, my consecration to Him will be obvious, not because of my own righteousness in obeying the Law, but because of the Holy Spirit-guided changes I make to be Christ-like. I can know Christ and the power of His resurrection and the understanding of His sufferings. I will attain the resurrection from the dead if I die before the Second Coming. Hebrews 6:17-20 & 12:22-24-- I have the wonderful hope based on God’s immutable and sure New Covenant as an anchor of my soul (divine assurance with divine peace). I am registered in Heaven (in the Book of Eternal Life (see Revelation 21:27c). Jude 24-- Jesus Christ, via the Holy Spirit and the Bible, is able to keep me from making mistakes in my life of faith and is able to present me faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy. In conclusion, read Revelation 21-22 and respond to what it states personally to you.
