DEAN MAKES FIRST OF STAFF APPOINTMENTS Also names interim law and finance directors NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Mayor-elect Karl Dean announced the first of his staff appointments today and also named interim directors for two of the top roles in his administration. The interim law and finance directors will serve until those positions are permanently filled. “I am fully prepared to take office tomorrow,” Dean said. “Metro Government will continue to operate smoothly while appointments are being made in my administration. Several of Mayor Purcell’s staff, whom I worked with when I was law director, have agreed to stay on during the interim. “While this is the shortest transition period between administrations in Metro history, I do not feel rushed to make decisions about who will help me lead this city. The Transition Team is diligently working to help me find the right people for my administration. I am moving deliberately in making those decisions.” Jim Hester, Senior Advisor. Hester was campaign manager for Dean’s campaign for mayor. Hester was the senior advisor for Harold Ford Jr. to the Tennessee Coordinated Campaign, after serving as campaign manager for Ford’s U.S. Senate campaign from July of 2005 until August of 2006. Prior to that, Hester was the executive director of the Tennessee Democratic Party. He also spent several years working on Music Row in Nashville’s entertainment industry. -more-
