Celebration Women's Ministry is once again running the Bake Sale at our annual Country Store and Harvest Cafe on Saturday, October 17th. We are looking for volunteers, and we need your help!! Are you willing to bake something yummy? If you don't like to cook, are you willing to "man the booth" for a few hours on the 17th? In the past we have sold individual servings AND whole cakes, pies, brownies, etc. So, if you are willing to bake, please bring your goods in disposable (or sellable) containers (not your favorite Pyrex that you want back!). Please let Mandy Bryan know how you can help.

Ramblings: Simplicity, Generosity and Joy Stress. Anxiety. Fear. These words capture well the state of mind of many of us in America today. We have witnessed dramatic market losses, the collapse of the world’s largest insurance company, and many bankruptcies and mergers. Every day seems to bring another piece of economic uncertainty. A recent survey found that over three in four Americans are stressed about the economy and their personal finances. Half were worried about providing for their family’s basic needs. Over half of respondents reported feeling angry and irritable, and reported lying awake at night worried about this. The report concludes that, “The declining state of the nation’s economy is taking a physical and emotional toll on people nationwide.” Join us in worship the next four weeks for a sermon series entitled Enough: Discovering Joy Through Simplicity and Generosity. Our nation is experiencing what many have described as the “American Nightmare.” Increasing consumer debt, declines in savings, lower income growth, and a volatile stock market are all a part of our economic insecurity. We have lived in a society that tells us “you deserve it now,” whether or not we can afford it or really even need it. All of us have struggled with these issues at one time or another. They are important issues that we cannot ignore. This is why we will be having this churchwide study and worship emphasis. During this time we will explore what the Bible teaches us about financial management through corporate worship and growth group study. We’ll

hear expert advice and stories about what others have learned by working through financial challenges. Each week we will provide you with some practical tools you can use to assess your financial situation and develop a financial plan with a biblical foundation. At the conclusion of the emphasis, we will have the opportunity to make personal commitments of our offerings to God through our church in the coming year. We will consecrate these commitments in the worship service on two consecutive Sundays (see the schedule that follows). I hope you will join us in the coming weeks as we look at how we can manage our financial resources and truly experience simplicity, generosity, and joy. Hey, Youth! So my favorite thing about fall is...all the season premieres! I’m so excited about all my shows coming back on...I’ve been camped in front of my TV for hours catching up on all my favorite shows! But as I’m watching I’m so surprised by what I’m hearing and seeing. Do people really talk like that? Are we really that mean to one another? And why didn’t I notice it before?!? And the sad thing is...I think we do talk to each other like that. So quick to complain about one another, so quick to be hurtful, so quick to make a sarcastic comeback. We all do...I’m guilty, too. We joke, we tease, and we think that we aren’t hurting anyone...it’s all in good fun. And I know that sometimes it is! But the problem is...we are a family of God...and God wants us to raise up our brothers and sisters, not slowly tear them down with our hurtful words. Last week we talked about being members of the body of Christ and so now I go back to 1 Corinthians 12:26: “If one member suffers, all suffer together with it; if one member is honored, all rejoice together with it.” What we do to anyone else we do to each other...and to Jesus. So this week, we are going to renew our vows to help each other out! To be there for one another and to build each other up! Let’s show the world that nobody messes with our family...cause we’ve got each other’s back! In His Love, Becca This week: B.I.G. Event!!! We are going to Sugar Land Ice for broom ball. Be at the church by 4:30 so that we can get to Sugar Land by 5 p.m. We will be back no later than 7:45 p.m.! Wear tennis shoes and layers (it’ll be cold inside the rink). We’ll have dinner and worship at the ice rink. See ya there! Parents and Volunteers! We will be having a meeting on Sunday, October 11, at 4 p.m.! Your presence and participation are crucial to the success of our youth group, so please plan to be there!

Administrative Council meets Tuesday, Oct. 13. Work area and committee chairs should submit a written report to the church office no later than 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12.

Thank you for supporting Anahuac Comeback. With your donations all materials needed through the big October 17 trip are paid for. Thanks to volunteers who are helping on work trips. This is a "Miracle a Day" project....not a day goes by without a new donations of time, money or materials. Here are a couple of examples: Yards of new carpet were given thanks to a referral from Brenda Tekyl. The Tugwells donated a washing machine. Mattress gifts keep coming. Home Depot in Rosenberg adopted our project and gives big discounts on everything we buy. God bless you all for being a part of His work in Anahuac. November will be another big month with lots of siding and cabinetry work along with painting, flooring, finishing out doors and windows. Please continue to support Anahuac Comeback with
