IT ALL BEGAN WITH THE H1. Arguably the most off-road capable vehicle to hit the market. Then came the H2. A more civilised HUMMER that achieved the perfect balance between on-road comfort and off-road capability. Now with the midsize H3, even more people can experience the feeling of exhilaration that comes only when you get behind the wheel of a HUMMER.

from scratch.
FRESH START. The H3 mission started out simply — build the most accessible HUMMER yet. Naturally, it had to prove itself off-road. In the city. And it had to be fun to drive. With this in mind, our engineers took a radical, new approach and started from the ground up.
ICONIC STYLING. Even at a glance you immediately know the H3 is a HUMMER. The signature 7-slot louvered grille, the rectangular windows, the skidplate, the large tyres, the low glass-to-steel ratio are all classic HUMMER cues.
The result? A beautifully functional vehicle that is clearly a product of the passion and dedication of some of the best automotive designers and engineers in the world. And one worthy to be called a HUMMER.
FEARLESS FUNCTION. And in addition to being iconic, many of these exterior features serve specific functions. The vertical glass of the windows, for example, creates spaciousness and provides panoramic front views. The skidplate provides vital underbody protection while off-roading. The large tyres, wide stance and short front and rear overhangs, provide stability, outstanding ground clearance and enhanced rock climbing ability.
SIZE MATTERS. One of the many benefits of the H3 is its size. It is smaller than its bigger sibling the H2 and hence more maneuverable. A smaller turning circle makes it easier to park and its large, wide tyres enhance traction and stability. Angular, strong and street smart, the midsize H3 is fiercely functional and thrives in congested city conditions.

DRIVER AREA. The H3 is as refined on the inside as it is rugged on the outside. Get behind the steering wheel and you’ll notice everything — from the rotary control switches, to the individual gauge bezels, to the soft touch caps on the control switches — is well organised, easy to use and accessible. The unique brushed finish, the optional perforated leather stitched seating, automatic gear controls and chrome door handles, all combine to create class. In other words, the interior pays the perfect compliment to the H3’s tough exterior.

SUNROOF. The H3 offers an optional sunroof measuring 916 mm x 624 mm. It can be opened, closed, or set to vent (tilt) position with a single control. The sunroof also features built-in “anti-pinch” safety protection that is designed to detect even the slightest amount of resistance, like a child’s hand, and immediately stops the sunroof from closing. SEATING. The H3 comfortably accommodates five adults and comes in a choice of cloth or optional leather-appointed seats. Both frontand back-row seats come with dual density foam and soft bolsters for additional comfort and support during severe off-road manoeuvres. Additionally, the back-row seats have a 60/40 split and can be folded down to create 1.597 cubic metres of cargo space.*
INFOTAINMENT. The H3 comes with a choice of 3 audio systems. 1. Standard on the H3 is a single-disc MP3-compatible CD ETR AM/ FM stereo with seek/scan, auto tone control, speed compensated volume, clock and 6-speaker sound system and TheftLock. 2. An optional ETR AM/FM stereo with in-dash 6-disc CD changer and a larger (single-line, 12-character) text display features a performance-enhanced, premium, 7-speaker Monsoon® sound system delivering 200 amplified watts. 3. Also optional is a top of the line Kenwood multi media system touchscreen operated with AM/FM RDS tuner, CD-R/RW player (MP3/ WMA), DVD full map navigation, DVD video player, MPEG video files and JPEG photo files and 4x50W MOSFET amplifier.** Choose the one that’s right for you. For more information or interior features, please refer to page 27 of this brochure. *Cargo and load capacity are limited by weight and distribution. **The DVD Navigation system is an accessory after-market unit.

At the centre.
When you have a strong foundation and an advanced suspension system, fording 610 mm of water, climbing 60% grades, traversing a 40% side slope or ascending a 407 mm vertical wall comes standard.
OFF-ROAD clearances
THe suspension. The H3 features a Short/Long Arm (SLA) independent front suspension and a Hotchkiss design, dual-stage, leaf-spring rear suspension. The front suspension uses an aluminum-forged upper control arm and a cast nodular iron lower control arm, providing robustness and strength when off-roading. Both the front and rear suspension systems feature microcellular urethane jounce bumpers, which act like secondary springs. This not only increases the H3’s load carrying capability but, more importantly, prevents the suspension from hitting the frame on severe terrain. Allowing you to go virtually anywhere.

THE Chassis. To build a HUMMER, you need to start with a solid base. To that end, a 3-piece, modular, fully welded, ladder-type frame lays a formidable foundation for the chassis of the H3. The frame includes high-strength steel side rails and crossmembers for extra muscle, durability, enhanced off-road capability and on-road comfort. The frame, on the whole, is also quite wide, building stability into the H3 right from the start. So conquering those Alps has never been easier.

The Vortec 3700. The engine that gets you up the mountain, out of the ditch, over the rocks, into the wilderness and makes it seem completely effortless. the engine. Breathing life into the H3 is a Vortec 3700 5 -cylinder engine that generates an impressive 245 hp / 180 kW @ 5600 min-1 and strikes a perfect balance between performance and durability. Being both high-tech and lightweight, this “smart engine” is the perfect choice for the H3, allowing us to offer a four-year/60,000 mile warranty, whichever comes first. THE transmission. The Vortec 3700 is available with either a standard, smooth shifting five-speed manual transmission or a Hydra-Matic 4L60-E electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission. The automatic transmission includes shift modes specific to the low-range operation, which, combined with speed-based throttle progressions, help optimise drivability in low-range, off-highway conditions.

REMOTE. CONTROL.
03. control
In a well-built machine, power and control go hand in hand. With this in mind, the H3 features an advanced Traction Control System (TCS) and an incomparable crawl ratio that give you complete command of the vehicle. TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM. Powered by an electronically controlled, fully integrated powertrain system, the H3 is a versatile full-time 4WD vehicle with full-function traction control. When off-roading or simply on slippery road surfaces, TCS continually monitors the rotational speed of each wheel. If one wheel is spinning more than the others, TCS applies braking pressure to the spinning wheel to help it regain its composure and transfers available torque to the wheels that have traction. Using this system, an H3 with three spinning wheels can still move forward, even up a 10% incline.
The crawl ratio is determined by multiplying the transmission 1st gear ratio, transfer case low-range gear reduction and final drive axle ratio. The higher the crawl ratio the slower the vehicle can “crawl” over large obstacles and up steep grades in 1st gear at low range. The H3’s crawl ratio in the optional Adventure package is 68.9:1 with manual transmission (56.2:1 with automatic transmission). What that means is that for every 68.9 revolutions of the engine, the tyres rotate only once. This staggering level of control makes the H3 one of the most capable off-road vehicles we’ve ever built.
CRAWL RATIO. Crawl ratio gives you superior control when crawling at very low speeds over large obstacles, like boulders or logs, or while moving up slippery or steep grades. A good crawl ratio also increases vehicle control by providing better engine braking when descending steep slopes.

4-Channel Anti-Lock Braking, StabiliTrak Stability Enhancement System and Dynamic Rear Brake Proportioning all combine to give you even more control. On- and off-road. STOP. Let’s take a moment to talk about the H3’s braking systems. 4-Channel Anti-Lock Braking. The 4-Channel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), standard on the H3, allows steering control even under extreme braking. The ABS in the H3 also adjusts to changing roads, helping you come to a smooth, controlled stop on almost any surface.
Dynamic Rear Brake Proportioning. Another integral part of this intelligent braking system is Dynamic Rear Brake Proportioning. This system modulates rear brake pressure and ensures that braking is balanced between both front and rear brakes.
StabiliTrak Stability Enhancement System. The StabiliTrak Stability Enhancement System, standard on the H3, provides more precise, all-weather control by applying braking forces to help correct oversteer or understeer. This is particularly useful on slick surfaces or during emergency manoeuvres, such as swerving to avoid an object in the road.
TCS TCS TCS
TCS TCS TCS
TCS TCS TCS
ABS + TCS = (CONTROL) The ABS/TCS combination works in tandem to give the driver complete confidence behind the wheel of the H3. When the system detects a slipping wheel, say on an incline, it applies braking pressure to slow it down, thereby transferring torque across the differential to provide traction to the wheel on the opposite side. Even with three wheels on a slippery surface and with virtually no traction, a driver can still get enough torque out of the fourth wheel to command the vehicle on an upward grade of 10%. That’s amazing control and capability. slippage detected

The H3 is designed to provide you with peace of mind, whatever you do and wherever you go. For starters, it has an exceptionally strong frame, creating a tough, robust skeleton. Additionally, the reinforced body of the H3 is designed to act as a passenger safety cage, providing primary protection to occupants by bringing shallow angle side-impact protection to both sides of the H3. But in the unfortunate event of an emergency, the H3 has many safety features.

LATCH (LOWER ANCHORS AND TETHERS FOR CHILDREN). This is a system for anchoring child seats (Isofix) in the rear. REAR DOOR CHILD SECURITY LOCKS. This feature prevents young children from opening doors in the rear of the vehicle.
DUAL FRONT AIR BAGS* WITH PASSENGER SENSING SYSTEM. This system decides whether to enable or suppress the front passenger air bags based on the passenger seated weight. The air bag is enabled when the system classifies the occupant as a larger adult and automatically turns off whenever the seat is unoccupied or if a smaller adult occupies it.
